Well we got the Block - heads - and Crank hauled off to the machine shop this morning. Spent about an hour and change talking with the owner. Neither of us have found any sign of cracks in the block or heads. The block deck checks out flat but the heads are anywhere from .002 to .005 warped, depending on where you check. The crank was inspected and we agreed it could use a fresh polish but was otherwise in good shape. :thumbsup1:

sooooooo - here's where we stand, we decided to go ahead and have the block cleaned, honed, decked and dressed in a fresh coat of paint. The heads will be disassembled and resurfaced, the valves and seats will be retored and then reassembled and the Crank will get Polished. And in about a week to 10 days we will be ready to begin a fresh rebuild.

Not knowing where we stood going down, I carried a spare block and crank with me just in case - decided to go ahead and have it also Cleaned, bored .030 over and honed and also have the crank polished. This one will be bagged and stored until I'm closer to my own build for my vert.

Glad that the problem wasn't as bad as it could've been, and it sounds like they're taking good care of you. Nice plan for the backup by the way ! :thumbsup1:
