You can replace the gear...........what year is your vehicle? I may have the gear you need at home..........or I can get the one you need from work.

My '93 has AOD and 3.73:1 rear gear and was 10 mph off. Had to switch to the purple speedo pick-up gear.:thumbsup1:

If your AOD is out of a 93, the purple gear will be way off. Unless, you change to a 7 Tooth Drive Gear also.:yes1:

I took it to the trans shop back in '95 or '96 and asked for the purple gear to replace the stock speedo gear in the tail shaft. I had read that it was the gear to use for the 3.73 gear swap in my '93 AOD (not '94 AODE) and he agreed. If he did more, I can't say, but it's been fine ever since.

I would go with a black gear over the white, they seem not to get chewed up.

You will still be about 5 MPH over, unless you change out the 8 Tooth Drive Gear, to a 7 Tooth Drive Gear. But that would intel pulling the tail-shaft, if you do that, might as well rebuild it.
