Ok so I'm about ready to run my POS off a cliff!!!! :angry: So I was suppsed to go to a friends house for a party tonight and got about 5 mins from my house when I stopped at a light and the car started acting up. I was sitting at idol and it started skippin a little bit (kinda felt like I had a big cam in it) then I started driving and hear the WONDERFUL *with MUCH sarcasm* tap tap tap sound. If I accelerated more the tapping got louder and the car ran like crap!!! :headbang: I was going up a hill and felt like I was in a 4 banger. Not 100% sure what it is... I have a few ideas but don't know exactly what it is. This sucks!!!!!!! :angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry: :thumbsdown1: :thumbsdown1: I stopped at a friends house that is on my way home and he said it sounds/acts like it's misfiring.... Something has seriously got to give... 2009 has been horrible and needs to hurry up and get overwith!!!!!!

That sucks Ashley. Could be a number of things. Have you done anything to it different than you normaly would?

from talking with her on the phone,it almost sounds like the super built AOD built by GOD in lancaster,is taking a dump.......either that or something is coming apart in the motor,hard to tell over the phone......:pray:its nothing major

Nope I haven't done anything different than normal. On my way back home last night it got to the point where it would knock and then the entire car would shake like crazy and barely drive. Luckily it was mostly down hill on the way home so I coasted most of the way but when I did hit the gas I felt like the car was gonna explode. It halloween, I had plans to go places and now I'm stuck at home... I am soooooooooooooo not a homebody!!!!!!!!!! :crying::crying:

Girl, You have to remember how old these cars are, and with yours being pretty much a virgin and un-molested things are going to break and have to be fixed. I already lost count of how much money i've put into the "Rattle Trap", and there is still a few things that need to be addressed. You just have to look at it this way..Once you replace something, you have the comfort of knowing that is one less thing you will have to replace anytime soon. If I can be of any help, give me a call.

My buddy Tony looked at it last night and John came and looked at it a little bit ago... both of them seem to think it's just misfiring so I'm gonna try to get a rid to the parts store here shortly and get the stuff I need... HOPEFULLY that's all it is :thumbsup1:

I hate to be but I am skeptical its misfiring,unless the ingnition module has taken a dump,or the coil.......Id be checking the #4 plug wire on the pass side,thats when it was leaking oil,could have fouled the plug,or burnt the wire,but that is a little far fetched

Stator and pick up in the distributor, could cause that also. But what gets me, is the ticking/motor noise.

Having been down the same road with my "rebuilt" AOD I can relate to ya Ashley. I would take it back to whoever worked on it and have them check it out. The may work with you since it's only been a short time since it was worked on.

Well the guy I bought it from is the one who built it and he SWORE up and down that EVERYTHING worked on it :thumbsdown1: Chuck put it in for me and after he and the guy fought several times about it (because the OD didn't work) the guy was a douche bag about it and wouldn't help even though he said there was a 90 day warranty...which was up on Oct 9 :angry:

Chuck I think u right. There is no knocking noise at idle or when motor reved up. As soon as u put any load on trans is when the noise starts. ONe of the many trans i went thru done this.

what do you figure has happned to it???? and could it be binding up,causing the motor to run like it does? I have seen a C-4 do something of the sorts,would bind the imput shaft up,and cause the car to act like its lost all it power,and run horriably

i no where a 302 std is needs cam bearings.Also comes with speed pro std bore pistons....cheap.

it might not be as bad as it sounds........Just got off the phone with Peter.....seems the head gasket is blone for sure,and the rings have got some wear on them,but no knock!!!!! He said that the radiator was about half empty.......might be the cause of the blown head gasket,but no water in the oil........We might be able to squeeze by,with just a head gasket change:pray: but sooner than later its going to need some serious work:yes1:

if we just do the gaskets i sugest getting the heads cleaned up just to make sure there r no problems with warpage... and definatly need to replace all the gaskets and seals!

Hate for you to get into it that far and not swap out the cam, lifters and timing chain. But timing and circumstances don't always co-operate.

Ok so Art and Peter got the motor out of my car earlier this week and today with the help of Bones they got the heads off and we all cleaned everything up. Should have the heads off to get checked Monday. Definately a blown head gasket....

Yeah i hope so had 2 more bolts break off 1 in the water passage in the front of the engine and 1 in the timing cover the very top one! Dad got them out and chased the threads there as good as new!

Nah not right now...all we are doing now is changing all the seals and gaskets and hopefully if I don't get screwed on my taxes that money will go to rebuild it.. I'm just trying to get it drivable right now so I can have my car back...it sucks that it is my daily driver :sad1:

If nothing else go ahead and let them pressure was that bad boy and put a nice ford blue or ford red paint job on the block. cost nothing and will greatly improve the bay for shows and stuff. see if they are willing to take a can of black spray paint to your engine bay while the motor is out of the way too. my 2 cents.

good point. mainly cause its cheap and easy and hide all the daily driving grime. but true i guess it should be what ever the color the car is. mine is being repainted a different color so it does not matter but for her it might.
