As I was leaving work on Friday night, I get a call from my Mother's Neighbor that she fell and can't get up. Ends up she was trying to sit on the end of the bed and missed. She fell and obvioulsy hit the floor. Neighbor and my Aunt who also got called refused to touch her as they did not want to do any irreversible damage. Ends up that she Fractured her Right Hip.

After spending almost 8 hours with her in the E.R. they finally admitted her. Yesterday I had an opportunity to talk with her Doctor and then the Orthopedist and they decided on Surgery for the repair. Fortunately it was not a Displaced Fracture. Basically that means that the bones had not shifted. Surgery was done first thing this AM. Very simple procedure. 3 small incisions, 3 Holes Drilled through the Bones and then 3 Pins installed.

She id doing great so far. Tomorrow starts her Hel;l as The Therapist and Rehab will be there. They get you out of bed immediately to make sure that you don't get stagnant.

Mom is a very difficult lady so I am sure it will be fun!

Like we talked on the phone Jeff, she has to do the rehab, even if you have to force her.:yes1: She will be in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thanks guys. Up bright and early. Gfoing into work for a few hours and then heading up there. I know nothing will happen until after lunch time so "Let the fun begin"

Last night I got a phone call that she ws refusing to accept a "Shot" that was Doctor Perscribed. It was a Blood Thinner to help prevent Blood Clots. She has been lying in bed in the same position for 3 days now. Finally my Brother was able tu persuade her that she had NO choice. Then we find out it was all because of the Nurse. The Medicine in question HAD to be administered directly via needle into the belly area. That would not make me happt either. Ends up with changing the dosage, it can be administered through her IV tube.

She wouldn't even let them give her the Heparin shot.:( It didn't have to be given in the belly area, it's just not injected into a muscle.

I had to give my own Heparin shots when I was in rehab.:yes1:

I don't think it was Heparin Eric.

well i will be keeping yall in my thoughts and prayers... sounds like i need to keep my fingers crossed that she will do what the doctor orders and allows the nurses to do their job as well... got to love strong will but not to the point it can cause your health to be put in jeopardy

Heparin is what they give you for thinning the blood, and not to get clots. And what you described is exactly how you take Heparin.:yes1:
