Not a big fan of hood pins........ If you get a pin on hood well....you have too. But I wouldn't put pins on a bolt on hood unless you absolutly had too.

However, if you do go with a pin on hood. I think the Hood pins with the steel wire like on eleanor looks cool or the screw on pins that seem to be popular on mopars.

My thoughts anyways

Josh

I dont like them but my car already had them so stuck with them. I just hate how every **** thing but the scuff plate rusts. I did go out and buy stainless screws but I have yet to find the actual pins that dont rust.

my hood latch broke on my 79' and busted the window, bent the hood, broke the cowl panel and dented the roof. so i got used to liking them, cause i don't want that to happen again.

No hood pins looks better than a car with pins........but a car with pins looks better than a car with the hood wrapped over the roof. Personally, I'll deal with the eyesore v/s the alternative.

Yep, saw it first hand from the drivers seat!
First time was the stock factory hood, which had NO SAFETY Catch. Second time was a Goodmark steel 2" cowl and was my fault, pop hood to check oil, forgot about it then got in it hours later and took off down the road, again NO Safety catch.:angry:

Well needless to say, with the last Goodmark hood I made sure to find and add the safety catch!!
I'm a fan of the clean look also (no pins) but I do want to add the old school "twist and lock" pins like were on the 69 Mach 1 and such.

New to the board....maybe I can help if you really want hood pins but don't like the looks!!
The best way to solve the worry issue for the hood coming up on you is to not put the pins through the hood like most do. Instead, get just one pin and mount it on the opposite side from the hood latch facing down not up. There is a catch lever there and there should be enough room to bolt the pin. Look at where it lines up, should be right on top of a metal plate between your radiator support and front bumper. You will need a long pin for this and yes it is a pain to get when your trying to undo but its hidden and it will save you a windshield and maybe your life. I will try and take pictures tomorrow to help you understand it a little better. I haven't done it to my 92 coupe yet but I have on many others.

i made some for wifes car out of stainless steel looks great was never a big fan of them until she had her hood fly up took out the windshield cowl panel and roof of the car .windshield and roof skin was not that hard to fix but ford must have been scared that the cowl panels were going to come loose because there were at least 300 spot welds holding it down wtf so now im in favor of hood pins

I myself have never been a fan of them, but I got a cowl hood for 130 bucks, and it has the holes and metal circle things already there, so im going to put them on the car. Plus the hood is fiberglass, and I've heard too many horror stories about the fiberglass hoods flying up on ya...

For 33 bucks for the FRPP ones, Ill take it as cheap insurance.

I don't like them but I have seen way too many fox's with bent up cowls not to consider them.

I didn't like them either until the third time my fiberglass hood popped up and the safety latch caught the hood. I went straight home and ordered a set from summit.
