I'm doing some research on transmission coolers and just wanted to see what everyone's thoughts are. Seems like you can spend as little as $30.00 and as much as over $100.00.........
Also thinking of installing a transmission fluid temp gauge, does anyone on here have one?
Thanks in advance!

I am going to run a temp guage in my hauler, but for a tranny cooler, I am going to use an A/C condensor. If you like your A/C, you can get a big cooler from advance. I have a 18k lb cooler on my 69 but it has a 3500 stall. The cooler the better for tranny fluid.

18 to 24,000 is all you need unless your running a brake and a high stall. Those are probably overkill but better safe than sorry. I personally would not run a temp gauge unless you want to watch it all the time because thats what is gonna happen:lol1: Just something else to look at in the car a make you become a hypochodriac.

These guys make good stuff and their pretty easy on the wallat.:thumbsup1:
AC condensors work well also but you must not overcool your fluid either. That is just as bad as getting it too hot. Overcooling will cause the car to shift sluggishly in the winter time and even on warm days when you first start the car and take off. Trans temps are ideal from 175 to 220 if I'm not mistaken, just the same as your engine.

I'm gonna need a long skinny one for my 89 LX vert. The intercooler and piping take up so much space. Sure they're out there...

the rule of thumb is any cooler is better than none, and as big as you find a place for.
I find a 24000 gvw cooler or better in stacked plate design is perfect.

I have a 22,000 GVW tube/fin hayden tranny cooler. I was tight in $$$, so I got that one. I'm going to run my transmission fluid through the radiator, then through this tranny cooler. :yes1:
