My cousin and I were talking today about the F303 cam being installed in a stock 302 with just a GT40 intake. After talking about it for a while, we started looking some of the info up online. Apparently the cam even though its one of the larger Alphabet cams, will fit in a stock motor. (Is that true, will it fit without PTV issues) We also noticed alot of people stating that the valve springs should be replaced with the "F" cam.
If that is the case could someone please tell me what valve springs would be the best match if we were to try this. I beleive I read somewhere that Ford racing M6513-A351 valve springs work well with the Fcam??
Could someone also please explain why the valve springs would need to be replaced? Sorry for the possible stupid questions, but I'm just wanting to learn more, try more, and play more:lol1::yes1::thumbsup1:
Thanks :thumbsup1:

i ran the f cam in a motor with stock heads no problems, i did have to get aftermarket springs i cant remember the spring numbers but they were comp cam springs ... about a $100 or so cant remember, but yeah you do need springs the stock springs just dont have enough pressure to keep the valves from floating at higher RPM's

Thanks man:thumbsup1:
My cousin has a couple of alphabet cams laying around and we're about to pick up a F cam, wanting to play around a bit.:lol1::yes1:
Can anyone confirm the ford racing Springs I listed? or any other springs that could be used.
Thanks again.:thumbsup1::yes1:
As some of you know I have not been a member for too long, but this is the best forum I've ever been on., plenty of friendly helpful people:thumbsup1::yes1:

from experience I would not use that cam unless you are using boost or a automatic with a healthy stall. That cam is a midrange cam it is going to be slugish out of the hole. IMO the B or E would perform better. just my :twocents:

have to agree ^^. my brother has an E cam in his car and it performs really well. he has pretty much same mods also. sounds good too.

Thanks guys I appreciate your help.
But here is my delema, I'm getting about 50/50 feedback as to the B-cam vs. the F-cam. :lol1::taunt:
I'm getting this from all over, posts I've read on other sites and articles etc. I know basically It boils down to personal preference but wow this is interesting to see.:lol1::yes1:
I already know that the e-cam is a decent little cam, my cousin already has one and its just dosent give that sweet cammin sound. (well you kind of get a little lope but not a whole lot) Like I said we are just playing around trying things. and what not to do.
I do feel however the B-cam sounds the best between the two, but have been told several times that the F-cam will provide more HP.
Anyway, keep them rolling in, oh yeah I appreciate the link to the Trickflow spring kit, I'll look into those as well.:thumbsup1:
Still does anyone know of the Ford racing springs that I posted gonna work well?
Thanks again:thumbsup1:

yes they do:thumbsup1: , and for the money and what your putting it in ID put a trick flow stage 1 in the car also, your gonna not like the f303 with your setup. even though its a good cam. and the b cam is just outdated...just my 2cents:thumbsup1:

I had a F in my 93 a loooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, when it was just motor, and it was freakin horriable.......Wouldnt make power for crap, untill i added a blower, and then it was awesome..... Like Thomas said,if you dont have boost,or a high enough stall, dont waste your time with it

I have a X-Cam you can use.....:lol1::lol1:And I can vouch for crap performance out of stock heads and valve springs.:sad1: Pulls like a monster from about 3800 and up though.

Like said several times already...if you're going to use boost yes...if not don't use the F.
I have a F with 1.7 rockers on a stock bottom end with 1.94/1.54 valved GT40 Y alum heads. But I have a turbo and some boost :D As with most mild hyd rollers...long as you have around 120-125 lbs on the seat it'll probably be ok valve spring wise.

thanks guys, I think that you've talked me out of the F-cam.
Would the b-cam be a fun little cam just to play with??? I've been told that they can install in an all stock motor with no problems. I've got the GT40 intake ready to add as well. I see alot of people add 1.7 rollers with the b-cam. Can you just run the b-cam without adding the 1.7's??? Do you need to upgrade the valve springs for the b-cam??? Like I said earlier in my post, my cousin and I are just playing around. I still plan on heads, etc down the road, I just want to play and tinker around until then LOL
THanks

The 1.7 rocker are to give more lift.Yes you can get away with using stock springs with B or E cam.Imo I wouldn't go over 500 lift with stock springs but its always better to replace the springs when doing a cam swap for the peace or mind.
