I have an edelbrock crate stroked to a 347 and the oil psi reads between the a & l in normal. It goes just below half when ran up. I dont think this is normal but however the car does not smoke a bit. Im going to put in an aftermarket oil psi guage so hope that gives me an accurate reading. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. What would be better mechanical or electrical guage or does it not matter?

I have the electrical one and i love it. I now have 75 psi at start up and after she gets warm at idle just a little over 50 psi. My original was reading really low.

mechanical is the way to go...no sending unit to give false readings.....but If you put the gage on the inside of the car, you need to run a steel braided line and not the little plastic line.....

I have any auto meter oil psi gauge and I think the **** sending unit that came with it went out. I mean it could be my fault, im not a wiring wize, but it did work really well for awial. Ive just heard its a pain running mechanicals in ur car becuase they tend to leak on ur carpet. Still wish I had one lol

I run a mechanical one in my coupe with the braided line like the other guys talked about. Never had any kind of leaks/problems with it like that.

what length of hose should I get for the mechanical oil psi guage. I need to run it to my dash pod.
Thanks

Thanks6 Ft is tight (Especially how you route it)
I have mine enter a gromet behind the intake on the firewall (Same height as dash)
I would purchase a 10 ft line (Coil up the flexability)

I had the 6ft one in my 89, and had no length issues at all.

my pos gauge use to read low and go lower when hot........ put a 2 5/8 motorsports guage on it. now it reads 60 psi @3k rpms get rid of that elect. crap and go mechanical. its the only way to get a true reading!

I had the 6ft one in my 89, and had no length issues at all.Again = It is how you route it.
I installed my oil pressure gauge to the far right in my dash cluster.
My line flows with the clutch cable,For Aesthetics.
My line enters a self made hole in the firewall,And passes through a gromet.
I have seen lines punched through the sterring shaft gromet,And run up a dash ( Withplenty of line ) Not in my car.
I may have routed the line alittle differant,Then the norm.
It is not stressed,But would be happy with another 6 Inches.( What guy wouldn't) LoL
It sucks because i could only find 6 0r 10 feet @ the time of purchase.
