NC is going to stop using inspection stickers and tie the inspection to your tag renewal, no more ugly sticker on the windshield!!!

We NEED an inspection, I don't care about the sticker, but I seen some dodgey stuff on the streets SC. If we didn't have a inspection process, then you could drive any piece of junk.

Do you have any type of inspection?NONE what-so-ever for Florida!!!! I will be moving to VA. within the next few years as my wife will be taking a job promotion (Philip Morris) to headquarters in Richmond.....and I already have the hook-up on a inspection certified mech. as I am NOT dealing with VA's retared inspections. I am pretty sure VA. is just to make sure all lights work and the car is working properly....which mine is, but if VA. does emissions than I am glad I have the hook-up!!!

Wait that sounds like another way for them to crack down on cats and smog **** :headbang: plus there going up on them. NC SUCKS they should be like SC and TN.

But Florida should have safety inspections though, way to many POS's on the road.:yes1:

VA is tougher then NC.:yes1:

But you got a hook up, so you will be OK.:thumbsup1:

One good thing about NC, is that if the car is 95 or older. Your exempt from the emissions test.

never heard of the 95 or older rule? I just moved back up here from sc and I am keeping my car registered there so I dont have to do inspections. I remember the hassle it was with all my other stangs, o/r h pipes and illigal tint. always had to find a guy who would just give a sticker. so when I moved back up here just left all my stuff in sc.

Nah VA doesn't do emissions. They are actually pretty lax when it comes to inspections. Besides for the obviuos things, lights, horn, blinkers, Tires, stuff like that. But if ya just take it to a mustang shop, not a problem :thumbsup1:

Is that the whole state? I have friends that live in Alexandria, and they have emissions testing.

I guess it's a northern VA thing.

In 2002 they stopped emission testing 95 and older cars, they did away with the rollers and just test OBII now. I guess if you don't know some one, that they could check to see if the cats are still there.:yes1: Yes they give you crap about tint, when I get back up there, I will get my Dr to sign a Medical Exception for tint.:thumbsup1:

What happens at an average check?

Beep the horn check all lights, check defroster, check driverside window. thats most. but if you went to say a dealer, they will lift the car, take the tires off, check everything. really depends on where ya go. but i know most place don't check emissions. no sniffer

That is kind of a pain. I usually run my dad's transporter tags so I don't have to worry about inspection but i usually don't run stickers on stuff I have tagged. I've had one ticket in my old 03 Cobra and thats all I've ever been ticketed for.

I used to live in Pennsylvania where they've got inspections (or had) too. Couldn't have any rust buckets no matter how well it ran, how bright the lights shined, etc. Holes could only be so big, but yeah...depends on WHO you have inspect 'em...what a $ maker!

But in addition to inspection states, I'm glad I don't live in a state where you have to have a front licence plate in addition to the rear...you have to bolt on, drill, mount or w/ever to the front bumper which IMO takes away from the car in a major way!
