I'm 99% sure the 96 up cars the offset is different than the 94-95.

the 98 spindles will push the wheelds out 3/4" over stock. work ok with most 8" wheels (bullitt's) but a pita with 9" wheels.

so i should go with 94-95 spindles to get the 9s up front to fit

Here's a great link regarding swapping '94+ spindles onto a Fox and the differences between 94-95 and 96+.

One excerpt that is especially notable:

1994-95 spindles will increase the front track width by 0.120" (3.1mm) per side.
1996-04 spindles will increase the front track width by 0.320" (8.1mm) per side.

Personally, I've run '04 Spindles w/ SN95 Control Arms, 17x9 10th Anniversary Cobra wheels, just an inch or so of wheel gap, and no rolled fenders.

That being said, though, there are an incredible number of variables that affect whether a certain wheel or tire will work. For instance, mine's a 2.3L, so it has the narrower K-member of the pre-'87 V8's. It also has MM C/C plates for a significant amount of negative camber, as well as MM Coilovers, so there isn't usually much wheel travel relative to the body.

Point is, there are a LOT more variables than just:

1. Spindle Year
2. Wheels

Not that that's a revelation, but I just wanted to throw that out there.

Basically, just because one person has run a certain set of spindles and wheels doesn't mean the next guy will have the same results. One must also consider:

3. K-member
4. Control Arms
5. Camber
6. Wheel offset (There are two different offset 17x9 '95 Cobra R wheels, for instance)
7. Spring Rate
8. Rolled Fenders
9. Fender Year (91+ had wider opening)

etc.

you could also run wheels for a 2005-2009 car, and possibly need to add a small spacer.
