I worked all morning booking cars for the next 3 days that would take me from Atlanta, to North Carolina to Alabama and back home. Well, I get 4 miles from HOME and the truck breaks a belt.(Can't complain, still has the original belts and the truck is just under 75,000 miles.) I get out, grab the extra belts I had with me and get ready to put them on. As I look under the hood, I see the big belt idler pulley is about 45 degrees off what it should be.

I immediately get on the phone to Ford Road Service to get the truck towed to a dealer 4 miles from where I'm sitting. I'm told the wrecker will be there within 90 minutes.(It's 1:30 now.) I get a call 15 minutes later to tell me a tow truck will be on the way BUT it will cost $200 extra dollars because I have a trailer behind the truck. Remember, I have to be towed less than 4 miles. I find someone to come and get the trailer, call the tow service back to let them know I have this handled, they tell me they'll get a different wrecker headed that way.(Mind you, they're less than 20 miles away.) The truck for the trailer gets there, I call to see where the wrecker is so I know if I can leave to take the trailer or wait. They tell me to go ahead and the wrecker should be there when I get back. I arrive back at the truck at about 3:30. At 4:00 I call to see where the wrecker is, I'm told it will be there within 15 minutes. At 4:45 I call to Ford and tell them if these people can't show up find me someone else.(I've now sat on the side of the road almost 4 hours.:angry:) I'm finally told at 5:30 that another company is coming and will have to wait another hour for a new tow company and will have to pay $50 because they have to come from a distance.:cussing:

I call tow company #1 and ask why they never showed up, they tell me because I cancelled them, I tell them yes but that's after they were almost 2 hours LATE!!!!! They tell me they had a priority call and they had to take that, I ask why didn't they call and tell me that, they said they did,(Which they didn't.)

Now I'm trying to get them kicked off of Ford's call list for tow services.

So after 7 hours today, I traveled 8 miles and didn't move anything.:burningmad:

Plus, people think I'm expensive, try getting a car towed, I look like a blue light special compared to a tow truck.

Sorry to hear bout this Todd. But I feel your pain with the "priority call". I have/had a buddy who runs a wrecker service. I've called him three times over a year time period for either myself or a family member, and he always has the excuse he was next on the SCHP "priority list" So instead of towing me or family member and make some cash, he would rather sit and wait for SCHP to call him, and maybe not make any cash that night. So needless to say, I don't call him anymore if I need a tow.:yeahthat:

Well, I got the truck out of the shop at 10:30 this morning, luckily, the Ford dealership listened to me when I told them what was wrong and ordered the part without the truck being there yesterday,:yes1: that speeded up the process and got me on the road, I got both cars picked up and delivered today.:thumbsup1:

I'm still going to *^%$ that tow company though.:bat:
