10mm head bolt holds a bracket in at the 12 o'clock position if your looking at the modulator. IIRC...

WHAT A PAIN IN THE ASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had two different neighbors come over to see what I was cussing about.

It come out easy but putting that **** bracket and bolt back in.

The old one was sucking transmission fluid and spark knocking so I changed it and now it seems that I don't have third gear, what kind of crap it that?

Jack asses gave me the wrong valve.

Put the old one in and it started shifting right for a while, now seems to have lost third again.

Have I screwed my transmission up ? ? ?

How does it shift?? 1-2-Neutral?? 1-2-4 lugs? Check fluid levels, might need a band adjustment, might be that its given up... How many miles are on it?

It shifts 1, 2 revs up , lugs then into od.

Shifts find when its cold, gets hot and

Don't know the mileage, bought it second hand.

Word to the wise, if you're looking for a modulator valve for a 93' a4ld buy it from the Ford dealer. The parts stores will give you the wrong one.

I'll find out if this fixes me on Wednesday.

Ok, I got the right modulator valve in and third gear still slips but no more spark knocking and smoke out the tail pipe.

What's involved with this "band tighening" ?

Thanks, ivel

There are 2 band adjustment bolts on the side opposite of the servos, which IIRC the bolts are on the drivers side. I will get the specs tomorrow for you but its something like 10 ft-lbs then off 1 turn or a turn and a half or 2 turns. Something like that. I will get specs.
