View Full Version : VIOLENT SHAKING problem need help

Recently my started vibrating at about 1000 rpm with the clutch in our out, in gear and in neutral. I got progessively worse quick, so i pulled the tranny. repaced the clutch and flywheel cause thye were in terrible shape, flywheel was slightly warped, but the tranny didnt have any excessive play in it. Put it all back together and it is still shaking like crazy all the way through the rpm's. Anybody have any ideas? Maybe crank?I would be willing to pay someone if the figure this out for me if u need to come drive my car or whatever. I appreciate the answers

whats the balancer on the front of the engine look like? especially while the car is running.

it didnt seem like it was doing anything funky. The car still sounds healthy. i havent put a timing light to it or anything but i just dont know

I had the same issue with my 95 Cobra. Turned out to be the crank. It destroyed my clutch and flywheel, that was how I found the problem.

Its probably the balancer. The rubber gets dried out and the weight will move, making the engine out of balance. I recommend a new balancer and that should solve the problem. And if its not taken care of it will destroy the engine.

Thats where I would start also, especially, if it's a stock (or stock replacement balancer).

You should be able to look at the balancer witht he car off, look to see if the rubber is coming out anywhere around it.. If it is pushing the rubber out then the balance is off

Crank it...have someone watch the balancer. It should be moving around some..I would almost bet its that....I have has like 5 go out on me....Feels like the car is going to Shake apart....

Yea thanx guys. I put the timing light on there and the balancer was 180 off lol, not to mention when i pulled it off it came off in TWO peices :lol1: But everything is fixed now, i hope! I really appreciate it guys
