So the new 88 I got needs a set of plugs. Apparently it goes through them since it came with a new set in the back that should have been my first sign. I've always ran autolites in my stangs but I figure I need something hot in this one to burn off the fuel. I know its running rich because it has some fuel smoke and will burn your eyes if your behind it. Should I go with an autolite racing plug? Maybe a double platinum? What is a good hot plug to run?

well between Champion, Autolite, and Bosch thats pretty much gotcha covered. I will say though, I was taught a long time ago by an engine "GOD" that the single prong plugs are the best no matter what because the electricity only has to be distributed to one source so the spark is greater. Just some old gooroo wisdom, others might have different knowledge though.

Plugs are not the problem, if it's flooding out. You need to fix that, and give more details of the motor, so we can suggest a plug for you.

yeah, the problem is probably in the carb, might need some tuning, power valve could be blown, or wrong size, could be to much carb for the motor, several things it could be , but good ole autolites should be fine , maybe some NGK's

yea what kind of head is it, and autolite is the way to go, we test all kinda plugs on the engine dyno with all types of strokers and what not, plati, double plat all a waste of money, BOSCH SUCK WEENY, so does champion unless its a lawnmower haha, NGK'S are good the best plug to run is a standard orange box autolite for 1.69-1.99 a plug, pendin on ur head a autolite 25 is most likely perfect, what kinda heads on on her????:thumbsup1: give us some details on the motor please. carb seems to be an issue if it keeps doing this.

NGK plugs are good- try to find the 'u groove' type- those seem to have less tendency to foul and offer a little hotter spark. Ive had good luck with bosch platinum plugs in basically stock setups. From my experiences, all those crazy 2, 3 and 4 electrode, iridium, platinum, gold plated whatever types are just hype and offer minimal if any gains in anything!
if your timing, fuel, etc...are all on the money and your still having issues, jump up one or 2 on the heat range, but keep an eye on the color, and an ear out for spark knock....................
