because i dont want to move the powersteering into the old AC location. i want to clean up the engine bay. i also dont want to start all over. i had to take the pulley off, break down the PS pump, change water pump bolts etc..... its not rocket science but i have way to much time invested for a FU ^%in bracket that does not work. i want the PS in the lower corner of the bay where it belongs or gone altogther.

uprhttp://southeasternfoxbodies.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=206&pictureid=9309 i forget the part #, but it replace your a/c compressor. everything stays in the factory location even uses the stock length belt.

thanks for the pic and i hate to sound like an ******* but that is where i went for the bracket i am having trouble with. although the pulley looks cool i dont want anything in that spot. even worse, i would have to put the PS pump back together since the braket i bought requires you to take off the hardware surrounding the pump and swaop back out the water pump bolts.

well what ever you decide to do is up to you but i would not plug the lines on the factory power rack. it was designed to work with fluid being pumped through it. using it like a manual rack is unsafe, the worm gear could get hot and seize causing the rack to lock up. if you don't want to wrestle with the pump anymore. leave it off and buy a manual rack. oh and then figure out how to reroute the belt for the water pump and alt.. or have to go to v-belt.
meaning swapping more brackets and pulleys.....

i believe that bracket when used as an a/c eliminator has to be moved up to the a/c's location.

i've run a short belt at the track before that bypasses the a/c and power steering. i just had to unbolt the alternator at the top bolt and swing it to the left and put the bolt back thru the hole so that the alternator bolt is resting against the bracket and not thru the hole. gonna warn you though, if you have regular sized tires it's a pita to turn the steering wheel when you are stopped!

We have run into, times when we needed a manual rack,we ended up getting one for a 79-80 mustang, from advance......much cheaper than a flaming river....it takes a little finess, but it will work.....cant remember the price right off the top of my head.......As far as the power rack, you can cut the lines, and cap them off,and run it that was.....It is not reccomended that you do that,as mentioned before,it will break and lock up,eventually.....I did run a capped power rack on the 84 I had for some time....and if you do decide to do that,be sure you leave some fluid in the rack, and that its only a temporary solution to the problem

Guess I should say what I did...lol
I cut the high pressure line and looped the low pressure side back to it. Ran it from august of last year until Jan. of this year like with no problems. There is some slop in the steering wheel tho. I do not recommend doing this its more of a PITB than its worth. I would just buy the one from your local auto parts store.
auto zone $228 with core.

can't you just remove the upr pulley and run a shorter belt with leaving the p/s pump where it is? they show a shorter belt in the belt routing diagram for those vehicles not equipped with a/c but has p/s..........be cheaper and easier than changing out the p/s rack for a m/s rack.....

One of my friends took the p/s pump and lines off. fille the rack with hydraulic fluid i think it was or maybe brake fluid. and plugged it. and it worked great for a manual rack. of course he had skinnies on the front also
