My brother ( Duque721) and I are working on restoring this 1986 GT VERT ( no power options car ) as a present for our dad . To tell him thanks for getting us into the Mustang hobby and for all the other ways he ahs helped us out . So thought I would put up some pictures to document our progress so far . So without further ado , meet Molly
This is what we started with on 3/7/09 for $900.00 . We drove from Roanoke to Chicago and picked her up . Dad let us borrow the trailer to pick up a mustang for a friend of ours in kentucky ... or so he thinks.

Nice 86 vert! Is the motor stock?

Yes it is. As far as we know. We just pulled the intake and vc's to paint them and clean it up under the hood. The only "hp" mods we've done are the shorties, x pipe and the smog and a/c deletes.

Thanks for all the support. We'll keep this thread updated.

well this weekend one of us ( cough * dugue721* ) went to the beach .. and I worked so here are some new pics .. on the ground for now , but going back on stands to replace broken brake line on passenger side  also test fitted new wheels on the front and they are too close to the strut for my liking , going to try and adjust this with camber at the strut tower ... would camber/ caster plates give me more adjustment? as a last resort I would use wheel spacers . also does anybody know what lines are the same for the front brake line thats broken? I know 84-86 v8's but what about 4 cylinders ? okay enough rambling time for some pics !

wow car is looking great, you guys are hustling. 5 stars and for an excellent reason. the only only only only thing i would change is matchin the intake and vc's with the charcoal wheels(which look bad ass with that bumper), just my .02cents but excellent work.

looks good so far!

if you havent gotten too much time into the trunk, the easy way is to use a coupe trunk lid and drill the holes for the hinges in a coupe trunk lid. a lot easier than welding, filling, and sanding the vert lid.

What up guys ! longtime no talk to , got busy with exams and vacation and summer school , but here are some updated pics. Got the front bumper fitted today. This was not easy , you have to cut the header panel in 2 to make it work and then we did some grinding down and filling of the bumper , I will have more pics tom. assuming that my arms do not fall off from all the sanding :thumbsup1:

correct me if i am wrong but isnt that bumber a saleen bumper similar to a sn95? i really like that. just as you, ive only seen the showcase car they have on their ads and not real life.

Duque721
06-06-2009, 09:28 AM
^^^ Yes it is. It's very similar. Soon we'll all be able to see what it looks like for real. Our goal is to have it painted either this weekend or early in the week. Then we have to put the new top on, swap out the motor(long story), put in a new heater core, put the new wheels on, put in the interior, take it to the exhaust shop and finally, get the front end aligned.

We have to have it done before Father's day.
