I guess you could say this was a good day for a couple of people here in Panama City. They closed the beach today so no one could go in the water due to a very bad rip current. You could go on the beach but not in the water. They had police driving up and down the beach all day making people get out of the water. Well this evening we were on the balcony grilling out when we saw this girl in the water. She looked like she was in about waist deep water and then the next thing we heard was her yelling help. Well in a matter of seconds she was several feet out and couldnt come back to shore due to the current. We were on the 6th floor so we couldnt help but there were several people down there going to get help. Police and several fire and life guards came and ended up having to save her and three other people that decided to try and rescue her and got caught too. I got it all on video of course but can't upload it till I get home!!! Everyone went to the hospital and looked like they would be ok.

Those rip currents, are no joke. Best thing to do is let it take you out a little, then start swimming parallel to the shore. Rip currents are usually only 30 to 100 ft wide.

This one was working in a circular motion. They would try to swim parallel with it but it would take them back out. I will post the vid when I get home, it was very weird
