Need help with engine build...

Ok, from my previous post I have found a engine block and top end kit from LATE MODEL RESTORATION for a good deal. Sadly the HCMC member that said he would help me with the engine swap meant only just a simple engine to engine swap. But I do not feel to comfortable buying a reman'ed engine, especially since I can't add better cylinder heads, better cam shaft or anything internally to the engine with out voiding the warranty. I live in central NC and am trying to see if any one can help me build the engine and drop her into my Mustang. if the person has the tools and equipment and can help I can pay them. I have a certian amount figured into my budget to pay who ever helps me.

As for the block and top end kit, it seems to be the best for the buck. With out spending alot and getting the horsepower out of it I am looking for in the long run. I have heard some people tell me to stay away from part store reman'ed engines. The engine from ATK I was eyeing is a good chunk of change but every one input has me wondering about it myself. I have been doing alot of research on the engines and what gives me what I want and will last long.

thats the info on what Late Model is suggesting. Get a new water pump and harmonic balancer then slap the other items from old engine onto it then she is ready to roll.

speaking of which I have that exact engine sitting here at the house right now,if you are interested in getting started quickly. I have not started on it yet,its simply sitting on the engine stand ready to go:yes1:

All of that looks over priced to me. You can go to the junk yard and buy at explorer motor for 500-600 bucks and have it rebuild for less and have everthing that you listed above.

Well if all of this goes as planned then my weekend is free on the week end of the 25th and 26th. Hell I can even start some on Friday if need be. if I get all of this done, all of the work I have been wanting to do to the motor then I will be happy as a pig in a blanket.. hahahaha

I love working my Mustang, granted some of my knowledge is the simple stuff and what I read about from time to time. Putting a engine together with everything in it I have been wanting to do would be such a thrill for me. Not only because it is fun and I am learning some, but I got everything done to the car I have been wanting to do. That isn't just short of a supercharger or anything.. hahaha

But that is the time frame I am free.. the weekend of the 25th and 26th. I will be in Charlotte on April 13th for the Music As A Weapon tour to do pictures. Then back down in Charlotte on April 19th for Black Label Society and JD's bass clinic session. So that is why the weekend of the 25th works for me. Plus it gives me time to get EVERYTHING for the build here.

So Chuck, if you can check the condistions of the engine blocks you got and find out what shape they are in and if they are going to last for a while then I may just buy one from you. PM me any info you find on the engine blocks you got sitting around. I am going to try to make a BIG order here by the end of next week at the latest.

As for every one else, if you are willing to pitch in then let me know and BADASS know. It is his place the build will take place at. He needs to OK the people. But I am liking the sound of this and excited to see what becomes of this.....

Ok then..so what the deal going to be here? Since PINKS is that Saturday how does every one want to handle this?

Due to pressure from family members I have chosen to go with a engine from ATK and bite the bullet and see if it works. Family members don't like the fact the engine won't have a warranty on it. Plus none of us building it are mechanics and fear it will not work and it will be a waste of money. The ATK engine has a E303 cam shaft with a GT40 cylinder head, and i am ordering a Cobra EFI upper / lower intake manifold. And as you can see from my signature those add ons will be added to the motor as well. Once the warranty is gone I will add 1.6 roller rockers, with push rods and lifter to the ATK Engine.

thanks for the offers for helping with the build but I am sick of hearing them ***** so I am just going with the ATK engine to shut them up and wind up spending $600 more when I make the changes. When I could have saved $600 by building it. I will keep you all posted on the ATK engine and has it handles, pictures and maybe a video will document the processs
