This is from one of my father daughter days with Chelsea. Normally our family does just about everything together but we get split every now and then with work, chores, boy and girl friends so we took a day for ourselves. I do not do woodwork very well but we jumped in and took a stab at some birdhouses and it was fun.
If ya ever want to create a few easy projects from scratch with a few simple tools then this is one way to do it. I bought a few Cedar/Pine 1x6's, 1x8's and 1x10's, got out my old table saw and chop saw and started cutting and ripping.
The time spent together was worth every second. Enjoy.
Here are the finished components.

Cool looking bird houses. The main thing is that you made them with your daughter, that time spent is priceless.:yes1:

I never got to do these kinds things with my girls growing up. For the longest time I was a single Mom working full time and trying to provide for my girls. Then I met Scott and went back to school full time and still worked full time. So I didnt really have the time to do these fun things with them. I regret not being able to do the things I would have loved to do with them. I was just trying hard to improve the things I could for them. Now that I have the grands, I hope to be able to spend time with them as they get older doing the fun things like this and trips to see new and exciting things with them. It doesnt make up for not doing them with my girls but it will make great memories for the grands for when I am gone.

Holy smokes you gots grand babies? Too COOOOOOOOOOL! We got our first one 4 months ago. :thumbsup1:
We need to start a grand baby picture thread!!!
On another note... My father had all the time in the world and still never had anything to do with me. Now he is old and close to his time still not wanting to visit, etc. Hell I called him when he became a great grandfather and he showed no excitement at all. I called again about a month ago offering to drive the family to Fla. and take them to dinner just to see them and talk and he declined. Said they just didn't feel like having company. Yeah it sucks but what ya gonna do? You'd think by now that I would be use to it but I keep waiting for him to change his mind for some reason. <--dumbazz!
There is a difference between wanting to do things and not having time to do them. Your children will always know that you were doing for their benefit and I will always know my dad never gave a crap.

Yeah I don't even know how to explain it to people that don't know yet but you hit it right on the head.
Oh she is definitely a girl. Kira already has that stubborn attitude @ 4 months. I blame the wife for that and she hasn't denied it yet. :)

Man I really hate to know that you suffered thru that growing up. I have seen my girls go thru it with their "sperm donors" as well. Brandi is grown and married with children now.. actually has a fairly good relationship with her "father" (takes more than what he has done to be a DAD is why he is called father) now and he is trying to mend some of the wrongs he has done to her. So long as he is willing to make things right, I am good with it. Chelle on the other hand is just now finding out her father is a real POS! He left his wife and their two children for some skank who left her two kids and hubby high and dry. He has since married her and forgot all about his children. I would have never thought he would turn his back on any of them. He still sees his younger two but poor Chelle has fell off the face of the earth to him. He is a sorry SOB and I wouldnt give him air if he was on his death bed! All I can say is what comes around goes around and I cant wait to see the day she lets it go on him.

Amazing what ya can get use to nowadays. I honestly can't see how anyone could walk away from blood must less their own children but it is getting more and more common these days. I can't even fathom the thought of not picking on my kids everyday. It just wouldn't feel right. :)

i am so with you on this one... my kids are my life... my reason for living... i dont know what i would do without them in my life. i was one of the lucky ones growing up, my parents were together until the day my Dad died. He and my Mom made sure we never went without the things we needed and for the most part what we wanted. I am the same by my kids, they never went without a need met and I gave up things/dreams to do my best to make sure their wants were met to the best of my ability. To this day, I put my wants and needs aside to make sure my families are met... Scott, Brad, Brandi and Chelle come first. The list gets longer now that Caitlin and Lorelai are here. I just seem to get lower on that list ..lol.. but I wouldnt change it one bit.
