we are going to look at a 84 svo turbo mustang for my brother tomorrow for 1200. it has manual boost control and the guy turned it up to 16 pds. of boost and blew a seal on the turbo, does anybody know about how much it would cost to rebuild a turbo or get a new turbo, Do you think the car is worth 1200 with a messed up turbo

those cars are rare, depending on what the over all shape the car is in. if its in good shape then i would say its worth it. IMO

it's suppose to be in good shape, says it may need a paint job on down the road but what car don't :lol1:

This is what he told me

"the car has a 2.3 turbo charge motor forged pistons just recently done head gasket valve cover gasket intake and exhaust manifold gaskets the inside of motor was very clean guy i got da car from said it just been rebuilt so it look like it has manual boost control 2.5 exhaust subframe connectors southside bars chrome ponies good tires blow off valve short throw shifter the clutch is aftermarket not shore wat kind five speed tranny white face gauges really stout car with turbo on 16 pds of boost went 8.65 n 1/8 th of mile a seal in the turbo blew out that is wats wrong with it body straight just needs paint, inside redone not long ago"

sounds like a good deal, unless it cost a lot to rebuild/replace the turbo/seal.

If it runs at all its worth 1200.I would up grade the turbo and not go back with a stock one.

it does crank up and run, i think he messed the turbo up running 16pds, aren't you only suppose to go with 7-9pds with a stock turbo?

i would think 16 psi would not be to much but if the seals are weak it could be.

drove 4 hours and got there and the body was not straight at all:angry: he told me it was very straight and had no dents and only need to be painted and that the interior was in good shape (another lie)

looks like some one took a :bat: to it, i was not a happy camper

When I was looking for my 93 I have now. You don't even want to know how many miles were traveled, looking at coupes that people would describe wrong. Even went to see some that looked excellent in the pics that weren't, but you have to look at them first hand, and go over them very good. Even if it means making a trip there, and leaving empty handed.
