Christmas will be here soon so i'm wanting some mustang stuff from my mom and dad. I know for sure that i'm getting a different upper and lower intake, wanting a cam and aftermarket heads. Let me know which intake you think will be the best, im thinking about the ssi-r

The holly is more of a blower intake, than anything. im not sayin its a bad intake for all moter, cuz its not, but i would say, TF track heat. But you dont have that listed so i would say the Holly, Eldebrock, GT-40

X3 on the Holley. My buddy runs one on his 306 and it is a beast. I think it is a good flowing intake compared to some also.

I really like the Holley, Edelbrock and several others but the Typhoon will get my vote for a "street" car application. I have 5-6 Typhoons/Hurricanes now on cars that are well in the 10's and a few that are deep in the 9's. Most of it depends on your combination match up but just to pick one in general and for the cost I would have to say the Typhoon. You can get a Satin finish for $300 brand new and it is a 99% copy of the Edelbrock.
If you decide to go with a 351/408 or something in that ball park then I would suggest the Performer ll or Trick Low hogged out.
Whatever you do don't even look twice @ the BBK junk.
The Gt40/Cobra intakes are not much better than stock coming from the factory on the Explorers and Cobra's. Not much of an upgrade IMO.

I have 5 and they all work great!
I do have a Gt 40 upper, lower, plate and gasket here from an Explorer that I paid $200 for if your interested. I went with a small blow through turbo setup and not going to use it. It is almost equivalent to a Typhoon and easily ported to flow better.
$225 should get it shipped to ya.

It looks more like stock but has the same runners.
I have the Gt-40 on 4 or 5 here now and they do great. Anything will be a big difference over stock.

No problem.
I am not really trying to sell it but don't really need it right now either.
If you decide you want it I will send it to ya for $200 flat, I'll eat the shipping. :)

If I didn't already have a tubular GT40 intake waiting to get put on, I would be on this if he didn't buy it.:yes1:

I prefer each one for different rides. If I am trying to fancy up a car I prefer the tubular but if trying to keep it stock appearing to sneak up on people then I like this one.
I have a lil 302 here making 367 through one just like this and the engine looks stock and clean. Of course it doesn't sound stock but it is really quiet for the power level.

gt40 or holley systemax is your best bet, depending on what cam/heads you go with.
article discussing a few intakes along with dyno session. this is on a 347 and the gt40 did better than most the higher dollar intakes, except losing out to the holley at 5k+

I have a stock junkyard motor ($75) here with Gt-40 intake, E cam and ported factory heads pushing just over 300 rwhp. Too many people under estimate factory parts. Not bad for a $500 engine IMO.
Mrs. Bugmans T-Top is a stock bottom end with a "B" cam heads and carb'd intake running 10.30's on a 150 shot. ;)
I know several people with factory bottom and cam running mid 8's in the 1/8th. That's full weight cars and not too shabby numbers for the amount spent.

i still thinking of throwing a bcam on mine to get it to pull above 5200rpms.
street car i would go gt-40 and track car go rpm2 or holley. gt-40 will pull stronger under 4000rpms and the other two will do alot more above that.

If for no other reason I've always like the looks of the Tubular GT-40 and to see that it holds it's own against some of the aftermarket intakes that's just an added + IMHO.

I run the Systemax on my car, and have also had good experience with the RPM II. I dont like the SSI as I witnessed a power loss on another car with it. My car picked up power when switching from the prior TFS intake to the Holley as well, so I was happy.
You should pay CLOSE attention to the cam/intake/head choice as a combo rather than which one is cheaper,etc... You can wind up with a great combo, or an ill performing one if you go one way or the other. BTW, if you ever get the chance, check out how the TFS heads line up with the Systemax intake ports. It's like they were made for one another LOL !
