water pump

well first my electric fan shorted out causing my water pump to go out....or at least start spewing water out of the gasket around the bolts....i dont believe i have done any other damage but is there any way to check and see if i have cracked my block anywhere?? i have checked the oil and its fine no antifreeze in it just trying to make sure before i take it to the shop...

If the block was cracked it normally cracks in the rear. You would see what coming from the bellhousing area or either side head gaskets?? How hot did it get?? Did it boil over or just peg the guage out??

I'm guessing the Elec fan shorted, then the car over heated? I would start with the water pump, but if it over heated, you might have some other issues than the water pump. I don't think the block would be cracked though if your seeing coolant up front.

+1 ^^^, put a brand new pump on there, fix your fan, or put the stock on one there for now. and see if that fixes the problem... if not, then you might have bigger problems. if it was spewing water out of the gastet.... wouldnt that mean that you have a back up some were??? thats pretty weird...
