View Full Version : 5 lug conversion
Hey I have a 5 lug conversion already on my car but i need to upgrade now. Will The font and rear brakes from a 99 mustang fit on my 86? I think i read something about the front brakes will stick out further than stock. Will he rear brakes and rotors fit?
you can bolt the whole hub assembly onto your lower control arms. theres a weather head fitting for the passenger side brake line you will need.
for the rear you would have to swap the axles, and that would push your rear wheels out atleast 3/4" per side and then your wheels wouldnt fit.
search for mjbobbit's webpage...
So i couldnt use my 5 lug axles i have now?

You will need different caliper brackets for the rear, (North Racecars has them) as the 99 axles are 1 1/2" longer per side
You dont want to use the 99 spindles either, ideally you want 94/95 with the 99 up PBR calipers, you have to grind the 94/95 spindles a little to run those though.
:)ok so wat would be the cheapest way to go about putting rear disc on and upgrading my fronts a lil!

Cheapest way? find a 94-04 car in the junkyard and get the rear brakes, master cylinder and booster, and use the North Racecars caliper brackets
for the front, if you still have the Fox style brakes, you can run the Lincoln 73mm calipers
I would link you to sn95brakes.com but it appears to be broken
here is an older version

1.5 inches combined (.75 each side) isn't it? ;)

Gotcha!
I only use the 94-98 stuff is why I was questioning it.
the NRC brakcets are made for cobra brakes. bigger rotor, thicker rotor, thinner pad, same caliper. i dont think nrc makes abraket to work with GT brakes. guy on corral was making them but nrc sent him a cease and decist letter.
