I just bought myself an 89 Notchback roller and it's a factory 4cyl car. It's already got an 8.8 rear end but i'm wanting to put a 351 Windsor in it. A guy that i work with has got one but it hasn't been ran in two years. He had it in a fox body conv. and when the car sat he pulled it out. It's a full long block but probably needs to be rebuilt. What do i need to change out in the car and engine to make it work? I know the basics like the oil pan, motor mounts, flywheel, damper pulley, and u can get an swap kit from FRPP but what else should i be looking into purchasing? And what kind of transmission should i be looking into? I know a T5 isn't what i should be looking into...

i would suggest just buy the full swap kit that way you would have everything you need, and then my next question is what are you going to be using the car for? dd or a track car.

If the 351 was already in a fox you should have everything you need.

I'm going to be using the car as a street/strip car. I'd like to be able to drive it everyday but i know that i'm gonna run into problems right after the swap so i'm not worried about that. It's not like i'm not going to have a car to drive because i still have my truck. And i didn't even think about it already being built to drop into mine...that's very true. I'm debating on whether purchasing it this weekend and bring it home to start tearing it down.

That's what i'm thinking. I was wanting to drive it with a 5.0 as a daily driver and then build me a 460 but realistically, a 351 will be cheaper to build and a good base to have in a notch. That's why i'm thinking about jumping on this opportunity

i have a 351w in my coupe, i had to have a oil pan, pick up and dipstick
also had to have a hood and headers just to fit in vehicle not
counting engine parts needed
but it was well worth the work

What kind of setup are u running? Are u running low compression or high compression? What kind of heads and cams are u running? And by the way, really nice car...

Motor mounts are the same. You'll need to swap the dist. headers, intake, and the a/c bracket as well as ensure that you have the correct damper and flywheel for the new engine. Other than that make sure that the cooling/charging/fuel systems are up to the task.

The T-5 will physically bolt in place but surely wont last long. I'd llok into something beefier like a Tremec TKO or an Astro at the minimum...

are you planning to go FI or carbed? you will need a differnt lower intake if you want to go to FI.

Ok...i might get Valentine to do mine but i'm not sure who does better work. One thing that i'm set on doing is an 8pt cage and a fuel cell...
