i just recently replaced the intake gaskets. after a few runs, there was a really high pitched noise that comes on after i drive for 5 minutes. when i press the gas the noise gets quieter. but when i let up it starts again. i have no idea what it is cause i cant hear where its coming from over the other engine and exhaust noises. any ideas? thanks

sounds like vaccum leak, especiialy ifyou did head gaskets...did you use any stickytack or other gasket placement adhesives?
yeap! definately a vac leak somewhere. Try to tighten the intake bolts alittle more.

agreed. check your vac lines, and the ports on the upper intake. you'll find something thats for sure!

I have heard of some throttle bodies making a squelling noise, did you swap one when you had the intake off??

i think i got it. one of the intake bolts was lose. it was actually leaking a little coolant. i could have unbolted it by hand. it has not happened since i did that. i just drove home from track practice and no noise. thanks for the offer bones.:yes1: how far are you btw? and no i kept the tb and spacer on.

glad you figured it out. i was gonna say i have a similar problem but its only at idle and causes no driveability issues so i just left it.... i think its its IAC. sounds like a have a procahrger on there so i don't care... sounds nasty!

well hell i spoke to soon. the nose came on again. but this time when i came to a stop at an intersection it stopped. then when i started to accelerate in came on again. On the way home it didnt make a sound. so idk whats going on. and yea sounds like i got a huge turbo on right now at idle.

Still have the air pump? Sounds like a bearing going in it or the Alt.

That would be a big YES!!!! You just have to get a shorter belt, and plug the smog tubes coming off the back of the heads. :thumbsup1:

Power Parts carries them. Just tell them you need two inserts for stock 302 heads

Or if you want to be cheap. Bust the heads (porcelain) off two spark plugs, and use the part that goes in the heads, they go right in the smog pipe holes in the back of the head also.. They are the same size.:yes1:
