First off I want to say thank you to all the members that have donated this year and for the Sponsors/Vendors that have gave SEFB a chance with their business. This has been the best year so far with money for the club. All the donations, sponsorship/vendor fees, Club Challange Money have went to several things this year. This is what we paid for this year

-) Mustang Week Sponsorship for 2011
-) Pizza Party for SEFB at the beach
-) Both Civil War Races this year racers were reimbursed their racer fee
-) Server fees paid for all of 2011 and also for 2012
-) They are some other small stuff the club has paid for also.

We now have around $1500 in the bank for 2012...

Also if you dontated in 2011 you were given a Level of Membership based on how much you donated. This will be done again in 2012. What ever month you gave your donation will be when your Level of Membership expires.

So if you donated in segments, like say $40.00 in March and then $60.00 in May, (just an example) when does your status expire? From the last date or the first? Just curious. Thanks for a GREAT 2011 and an even better 2012!!!!!:thumbsup1:

When March comes around that 40 would drop off and put you to Silver Supporting member I would think.

:yeahthat:

If you donated in January (or months forward), that would fall off, but anything after that stays until the other month/s you donated.

So I guess the club is no longer a "Non-Profit Organization" where we help out local and/or national charities with any funds left over ??

idk a non profit organization is suppose to show a zero balance at the end of the physical year. if not then it is suppose to be treated like a business and taxes must be paid for all profits.

Yes it is still a non profit orgainzation. What ever the members want me to do with the money is fine with me..

A non- profit organization can carry over a balance up to $3000 before it is taxed at the end of the year.

A 501c7, which is "a social or recreational club with a common interest, funded by internal donations with charitable attributes." This means we don't have to file taxes(like a 501c3 does). We simply have to submit a 990N form stating we took in less than $50k last year in donations and confirming our desire to remain a 501c7 for the coming year(which can be done online).

Last year we had to take proceeds from the sale of tshirts DURING MW to finish paying the balance of what we OWED for MW. That's cutting things way too close imo and the admin and mod staff agreed. Servers fees were a little passed due as well if i remember correctly. So at the beginning of this year we made a push for donations because the account was close to zero and the members answered! We were able to pay for our MW sponsorship well in advance this year and tshirt sales paid for the pizza party and put money back in the account. As mentioned, servers were also paid up for this year and next. So now we start this year well in the black and the donation drive has a lot less pressure. We have talked about sponsoring charities, but the hardest part is being fair as there are so many worthy ones to chose from. One thought would be to pick a new one each year and cut them a check if the funds allow to spread our support.

I definitely support the idea of donating proceeds to charity, I also really like the fact that we have next year accounted for as far as server fee's go, that's a great place to be!

Here's an idea, since we aren't really a location based club (as in no local "chapters" like Mustang Club of America has) but we have members all over, maybe we could pick a Charity from each state that we have represented and rotate between them?

I say we go ahead and pay for our Mustang Week sponsorship with the money left over so we dont have to worry about it.

I agree 100%.

As far as a charity I think we should pick a lot of smaller stuff throughout the year to help out instead of just cutting one check to one charity. For instance support some local car shows that are for charity. If we sponser them its a double win for us, we help a charity, and the club gets there name out more.

Mustang Week is a large event and its expensive to sponsor. No one said that is the only thing that is happening this year. There are plenty of track days, car shows, etc scheduled throughout the year.

It doesn't revolve around Mustang Week. BUT Mustang Week is a huge part of what has made this club grow into what it is. Every year after Mustang Week we get a big increase in members. If it wasn't for Mustang Week we wouldn't have been mentioned in major magazines several times or gotten all the good press we have because of the foxbody cruise. And all that aside its just a hell of a good time for the members. So yeah paying the Mustang Week sponsership is pretty important. We would just assume not be trying to sell t-shirts, hot dogs, and hamburgers on Thursday night trying to raise enough money to write them a check on friday like it was in 2010.

Like it has already been said the donations dont revlove around Mustang Week but its nice to have free food for the members, a nice spot to hang out at in 100 plus degree weather and give to some charities throughout the year.. The members here have worked hard to get this club where it is and its nice for the club to give back. I know times have been hard for some of the members and they can't give much or at all and that is fine, thats not what the site if for, but if we have the money to help I say that what it goes for The Members!!!

I must have missed it somewhere but how much did you donate last year????

The concord meets have been going pretty strong most every month. There has been plenty of support around the greenville area last fall for the KMS club participation awards, and the Tennessee meets have been steadily growing as well.

Mustang Week is by far the largest event of the year where members do just that..."get in their mustangs, drive them and hang out". As mentioned, exposure/advertising for the club is tremendous and therefore it is an important event. Besides that(event wise), we do everything that was done in the past and more...monthly meets, drag meets, mountain cruises, Club Wars, Foxtoberfest, Club Dyno Challenge(invited, but couldn't make it happen this year), etc.

Keep in mind we're in a recession that's 4 years running. People are out of jobs and gas prices are high making our hobby more expensive than ever to enjoy. Participation can be challenging in this environment, but we make it available every month. Charities also suffer in a recession as there's just less disposable income to give, but every little bit helps so we try.

We have more sponsoring vendors than ever before, which is a clear sign companies feel good about investing in SEFB. Some come on board and make it work, while others drop due to lack of business...it happens.

We take a risk discussing the club's finances on the open board, but the current admin & mod staff believe some transparency is appreciated by the members as a whole and frankly builds trust. Trust that was damaged just a few years ago.

I've been here a little over a year and still consider myself a new guy. I've donated over $100.00 through out the year and will gladly do it again this year. Kevin, Putt, Eric, Jeff, Troy and all the other Mods I've gotten to know fairly well and have done an excellent job in my opinion of taking care of this club the way it needs to be. I've been trying to grow the club in my area and it's a BIG help to open up a magazine and say, "there we are!" So Mustang Week is pretty imprtant. I seen on your opening post you were a "Founding Member" , I thank you for this great place which I visit everyday and have made some pretty good friends here and brag on almost everyday. But if you have not been around a while to just jump in and question what these guys are doing is not really fair is it?

Great Job guys, keep it up!!!!:thumbsup1: Like I've always said, I'm here for whatever you guys need!!!!!:yes1:

I'm glad server fee's are able to be paid already and all that stuff. I agree with getting MustangWeek paid for early in the year. Thats an important event for everyone, sponsoring and getting SEFB out there and getting new members.
I like the idea of being able to give to different charities throughout the year, whether its a small or large donation, we all know anything helps.

I wish we were closer so we could join all the other events with you all, instead of JUST mustangweek. We love hanging out with all of the SEFB members. And I cannot wait for MW already, whether we have a car there or not. I miss being around all you helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, fun, awesome people having a good time with their cars.

Johnny I never said your werent apart of making this club. Its even still in the opening statement of the club. The club has given to the community and it does help others, alot. Pleasure Myself????? I've never profited from anything for the club. The stickers I make dont even pay for the vinyl I use. That is the main reason we have what the club has and has paid for out in the open so the members know where the money is going. Your the one that gave up on the club and left but when you came back was welcomed like you never left... Hows that for support..

As for active members getting out and enjoying there mustang. I have met many members on here that i dint meet as mustang week. The club would not have won the KMS club Challenge without having active members. These members are will to help others in a time a of need just go look at some of the post. Many times i have seen members helping each other in parking lots and may other places. Just some examples a couple years bac i know of a fuel pump changed on side of rode on way back from mustang week, Bones transmission broke on way back from concord I drove over a hour back to get car dolly and truck just to turn around and go back and get him. Thats just a couple with too many to list. I have met many friends on here that i talk to more than family so there is active members.

When the current admin's and mods took control of this site it was a mess, folks were not happy, the dues for largest club event of the year (Mustang Week) were late and we wern't orginanized at all. They turned the balance sheet around, got us ahead, started many new events that lots of us "active" members attend, we got our name out in the media...we've been in MM&FF and 5.0 for at least the last two years...we've had several memebers get photoshoots, and club moral has jumped by leaps and bounds...

as far as a club where folks get in their Mustangs and drive and hangout, well I've been around for around 2.5 years or so and have seen the club meets grow in number and frequncy in the Concord area, the upstate is still standing strong and the TN folks are working hard too...I can honestly say some of the best car folks you could ever ask to meet are right here in this club and on this site and will do anything to help! I've developed friends on here that go far beyond the car world and i'm very thankful for it!

not trying to be ugly but where does a person who hasn't had anything to do with the club in sometime come off pointing fingers and questioning the way things are done on this site and for this club? The transparency we have on $ gives everyone a peace of mind when we donate our hard earned $ to a club..we now know who gets what and when...that way no one can "please themselves" with club funds....people need to stop trying to stir the pot when there is no need run their mouth!
