Well, this weekend my buddy is heading to the track to run his TT GTO. He invited me, and we are gonna head up there and hang out. He asked if I wanted to run my car....... I do.... but... the clutch still isn't broken in yet all the way. Out of the 500 miles break in, I've only got about 250 miles. Now i have gotten on it in the past couple of days, and it didn't slip it all. it feels great. no chatter, anything.

If I do go to the track to run, I'll be running with my E/T Streets, now I know that those alone will be a lot of stress on the clutch and if it's not broken in all the way, it definatly wont be after them.

I'm just not sure what to do. So i leave it up to SEFB. Race this weekend, or don't race?

I'm old school Adam and would like to see the 500 miles, but if you've already had varying load/rpm for a few days worth of operation, and I'm sure you have a few heat cycles since it's been a little while since the swap, I'd figure you to be OK with it if you run. I've seen/taken part in new clutch installs in the pits at the dragstrip, and we broke it in during a pass LOL ! Hopefully you can get the miles on it anyway this week and it wont matter. Hell, just drive up to visit Cujo and Special Fred and back, and you'll be in there like swim wear ! :thumbsup1:

haha yea I'm leaning more towards not running it. I just don't want to comprimise the clutch and have to do that job over again. LoL I'll just drive it as much as I can this week, and if i get the 500 i do, and if I don't, there are plenty of Test and tunes in the coming weeks ;)

I would wait too. That is a pain in the ass job, and it's bad enough having to do it once. You sure don't want to do it again.:headbang:

Drive it like you stole it....and let the track sort out the weakest parts... lol

You should be more than fine, the clutch has wore, and been very hot. I can't see you having any problems, if its a good clutch. Out of all the race only cars, how do you think they break in clutches, motors, trans, etc.??? The blast down the track!

I put a new ford motorsport clutch in the coupe, drove to Fun Ford event in commerce, went on the 30 mile cruise, and then made 3 passes on mickey thompson drag radials. that was 3 years ago and clutch is still goin strong!

long as it's seen a few heat cycles and you've gotten some clutch material on the flywheel, should be good to go! just be wary of dead hooking on a high rpm launch on those tires on stock axles! i'd be more worried about that.
