I was just wondering what everybody thought of the black body side moldings on 87-93 Foxes?? I see almost everybody's car on here is painted 1 color, moldings and all. I like mine black, it really brakes the car color up and makes it stands out. Plus its a 4 banger thing, lol. Also on a side note, does anyone like the mirrors, tops of the doors, window trim etc painted body color??

I've seen a few LX with the black body side moldings that looked real good. As far as the mirrors, tops of the doors, window trim etc I say stay black.

to each his/her own. Personally I do not like them. This might have something to do with buying a 91 4 banger at the end of the model year (needed a car bad, and it was all I could afford). They started doing body color molding 92 model year, so I drove off with a brand new year car that was already old (as if being a 4 banger wasn't bad enough):lol1:. Minor thing really, but seems like the color molding is always an upgrade. Fortunately, my current gt is already black and my favorite color for foxbodies is black, so it doesn't really matter. The one thing I do hate thought is the red tape they used to put in the center of the molding on gt's. I tore my molding up really bad razorblading that crap off before painting. If I ever redo the car, I will have to replace the entire molding, havn't a clue as to where to get it all at. Suppose I'll get lucky on ebay some day.

the LX molding I could go either way on it, but I've seen some good looking cars with the black molding.
As far as the tops of the door and outer mirrors.....black is the only way to go

I like them both ways, if they are a 87-91, then black side moldings. If it's a 92-93, then painted to match noldings, thats how them came from the factory. As far as the mirrors, tops of the doors, window trim etc., I say keep them black.

I think they look better painted black on the lighter color cars and solid on the darker color cars. Some exceptions made depending on the make, year, model, wheels, etc.

Here are a few examples of how I like em.

I like to paint the moldings same color as car, mirrors same color as car and window molding satin black

IMO the purple car posted above would look awesome with dark purple moldings instead of the black.

to me it really depends on the color of the rest of the car. My car had them when it was all Wild Strawberry, and they looked fine, but now with the half black, it would be too much black. So I painted mine over.

I just had a 89 coupe painted just like yours. I didn't like it when we picked it up but after a few days it is growing on me like Kudzu.

The moldings are pretty much fine with me however Ford did them, but I like the upper door trim/window sills/mirrors/etc in black...
