Im thinking about getting a UPR boostpipe and a bypass valve to add to my vortech v1 set up. I think now it is running 6-7 lbs. I figure the boostpipe should add 2-3 psi. Im looking at the turboxs bypass which is rated at 10-25 psi. would it hurt to put this one on my car if it is running 8-10 lbs? If not I can always get the stock replacement....

Just wanted some feedback because im not really sure what I want to go with yet. Thanks.

I would think that if the bypass is rated at a minimum of 10 lbs, that it wouldn't open until it sees at least that, meaning that if you run less than that, it will never open. This would result in boost possibly backing up into your TB and hurting it.

A second opinion is needed here though, I don't have much experience with bypasses.

Since you know it is rated for 10 - 25 lbs, I would just increase your boost to 10 or 12 lbs and call it a day :yes1:

I am not the foremost expert on bypass valves either but once they see vacuum, throttle blade shut, it should open reguardless of what boost pressure your running.

the stock bosch bypass is rated at 10lbs, so getting anything aftermarket wont open so its not worth it. its only recirculating anyway so if you are not making well over 10lbs save the money

The bypass is rated as to what it can handle, not when it opens. That's a wastegate for a turbo setup that operates like that.

Typically a bypass valve will open at around 5" of vacuum when the throttle closes to let the air recirculate. Some aftermarket ones (even a Vortech Mondo, etc) with have an adjustment nut on top. This adjustment is to change at what inch of vacuum the bypass opens if you desire.

Honestly on a basic setup a Bosch 110 plastic valve will be fine around 10 or so psi. If you plan on more boost down the road get something like the Vortech mini-race bypass valve.
Reason for the different valves at higher boost levels is flow. Bigger valves can flow more which is needed when you need to quickly relieve the pressure when you are running higher boost levels.

Well mine didnt have one on it when i bought it so im wanting to put one on it to compensate when the boost is up. I also want that awesome sound! How loud are the bosch ones? the turboxs is made to where it can simply replace the bosch and handle more boost. I think i may just get the turboxs as long as it will open under 10 lbs. plus its polished so it looks a lot better!!!

You aren't going to get that sound like a turbo car when it lets off. That's when a bypass valve just vents to the atmosphere.

You can only do that IF the bypass is before the mass air meter like on a turbo setup with an intercooler and a blowthrough mass air.
On a Vortech setup with the air filter first, then the mass air, then the supercharger, then the pipe to the tb with the bypass hooked to the underside you can't vent out into the open. Has to have a hose off the bypass going back to the powerpipe. That air has already been metered by the mass air and you'll cause a bad rich condition when you slam off the gas. That will quiet the whoosh noise so you wont much be able to hear it.
Yes the Turbo XS will open under 10lbs,it'll open under vacuum to relieve the pressure. Has nothing at all to do with how much boost your running.

Yeah I knew that it wouldnt be that loud because its recirculated but doesnt even have one now so I figured it would give me a little extra noise, and be better for the motor especially with more boost. Thanks for your help NC STANG GUY!

I just saw a turbo smart dual port which is recirculating and open. the guy showing it said that it was made this way to keep the MAF happy. Would this be a better option for me?

I am normally a fan of UPR and run a lot of their stuff on my cars, but I had a bad experience with their power pipe. Their power pipe was plastic garbage and I could never get it to fit right. I have always had good look with the Anderson powerpipe on any car of installed them on.

ive got the UPR boostmaster on my car (bought from robert hindman) and a bosch bypass valve... they both work great for me. but since im using megasquirt and speed density, im not recirculating my bypass air, mine is just dumping to atmosphere. when it dumps there is a slight blowing noise... thats it.

I'm getting one that you can either do 50/50 full recirc or full atmosphere. I'm going to be getting a wideband as well so I'm going to try the 50/50 and see how rich it is between shifts and decide If I'm going to keep it or go to full recirc.
