Isn't this kinda the wrong way to fix you problem?? Why didn't you just think and figure out what was wrong with the EFI?? I hate seeing carbs on foxes, Mostly its 4 banger swaps but you have a factory EFI 5.0, just fix it.

capriracer86
02-08-2009, 07:09 PM
i think his problem is the pick up in the distributor... bones had the same problem with his car when i switched out his engine!!! it was getting spark but the pick up wasnt right!!! swiched out the parts from another (dizzy... lol) and it was fixed!!! sorry i was late with the info it just dawned on me... my bad

I don't want to sound like an a$$hole but its the same kind of people that put chevy motors in a ford just because they don't want to think.

X2 :yes1: And it will most likely cost him more to convert then fix.

I installed a new stator when I put my motor together, cheap insurance that the car will run a good long time, also install a new module when you do a stator or visa versa

Joel, if you want to run a carb....thats cool. It's your car and you can do whatever you wish to it. Just make sure that when you are doing the carb conversion to make sure you dont run into anymore problems.....dont just hack the wiring harnesses up. You may change your mind later and want to go back to EFI.

With any job it takes good planning and patience because when you work on cars they almost always dont go according to plan!

When choosing a carb.....unless you plan to swap for better flowing heads and put a large cam in.....a 650 cfm carb should do you just fine!

not messing with any wires. I already have a carb, fuel pump, fuel filter, buying a msd 6al box and msd dizzy.I hate all the wires and chasing to find problems.Done all the crap ya'll were talking about to the dizzy and the t.b and nothing changed.Have done the carb swap before.

badluckpony
02-08-2009, 08:11 PM
going with a rpm air gap intake and a 600-650 carb, gt40 heads or something around there.

Not starting or trying to start anything on here with anyone. But the deal with the efi on my car .Is i dont no anything about the efi. I have spent more than 125 on the parts that everyone has said that could be wrong with it and a starter.Nothing has changed with the car does the same thing.Maybe I am going about fixing the problem the wrong way maybe im not.Only time will tell

More power to ya bro. I don't see anything wrong with going with a carb. In fact there are alot of people around my area that have. And u r right. Carbed cars are alot easier to work on. So good luck and don't forget to get ur a$$ down here and get these parts!!!!!

good luck with the carb i have alwase had carbs and it takes a lot of work to tune the carb but when u get it right its right my thing with fuel injection is to change a cam u have to change so much stuff and get a tune . with the carb and u change the cam and maby the jets and p/v , i dont have to buy bigger injectors of a new maf or a new t/b or get it tuned or a new chip to me its what im used to and i have been tuning carbs for a while so mine r carbed :thumbsup1:

going with a rpm air gap intake and a 600-650 carb, gt40 heads or something around there. that will be a pretty good combo... my car was a 4cyl but had been converted to EFI but i converted it to carb it has trickflow TW heads, holley 650, and RPM air gap... i really like fuel injection my car the harness was hacked up had some issues. i decided to change the car to carb for a couple of reasons.. it will never go far out of town the farthest it will go will be the track and it is 15 miles from home to my car will be on 150-200 shot and i wanted carb for that much spray.. and plus you can make a carb'd car look super clean under the hood mine just looks like a motor sitting there and thats it just looks simple and clean if it is not your daily driver carb it and have some fun if that is what you really want
