What is the best cooling setup to run? My 85 is all stock and I want to upgrade it so if I get stuck in traffic I can sit for hours with no problems. I think something in the system needs attention ASAP because it over heated after just a few minutes of sitting the other day. In my 91 and in the 89 supercharged car I had a electric fan(two in the 91) and aluminum radiator and both of them ran cool all day long(well except at mustang week when one fan went out on the 91:angry:). In my 83 I have an electric fan but stock radiator and it sill runs around 190-200 but tends to climb on up in traffic. I am thinking of going to duel fans with one on a toggle switch and one running all the time so I can let it warm up in the winter for heat and give myself a little more control. What kind of aluminum radiator would you get if you were going to get one? I don'
t want to spend a fortune but I know ill have to spend some money on the project. What kind of fans?

Mine has a 160* thermostat with a 2 core (I think, maybe 3) alum. radiator and an elec. fan hardwired to the ACC/key on power and it has never ran over 170* the entire time I've owned the car I don't think.

I run a three row brass rad,160 therm(in the summer),and i used the electric fan from a mid 90s t-bird.i used one of the cheap adjustable fan switch from advance and a sepperate 40 amp relay. It never gives any trouble and i can sit in traffic with the ac on all day long my temp never gets above 180 deg.
