Just wanted to say hi! We are in Cartersville, GA (NW GA).
Right before Christmas I picked up this rather clean '84 GT Turbo. Researching the best brakes and suspension at the moment before we turn our attention to the little 4 banger.
The TRX wheels have already come off in favor of Ponys.

Hopefully keeping the 4 cylinder.:yes1: There were less GT Turbo's made then GT350's in 1984.
The 84 GT Turbo's are pretty rare to find.

I'm still kicking myself for not buying the 84 GT Turbo T-TOPS I looked at many years ago. I didn't know what it was at the time, or how rare they are!!!!

Thanks for the welcome guys!!!
The 4cyl will definately stay. I want to make the car handle extremely well and be capable of mid / low 12s. This is the 4th 2.3 Turbo I have owned, one being a SVO and two being Thunderbird Turbo Coupes. This is about my umpteenth forced induction vehicle owned including a '91 Mustang Coupe with Kenne Bell, '84 BMW 745 Turbo (grey market car) and SuperCharged Trailblazer SS. I love forced induction.
Here is a quick video the the trailblazer http://s291.photobucket.com/albums/ll281/psrumors/?action=view¤t=113120.flv

Thats a nice clean looking car and the TRW rims fit the 4 eye look more than ponies IMO but pony rims are always a good choice.
I love the fact that its a 84 turbo, I almost got one but it would have been a large project, locked turbo and sitting for a couple months... cool cars indeed.

Thanks again guys.
The TRX wheels are nice but so is the price of the tires, $300+ each.

Would not even think of taking it out. We all have V8's and 4cyl but who has a 4cyl Turbo? You are like us but in your own way.

Never crossed my mind to do it. All the Mustang magazines for years have been quoted saying change it for a 5.0 now even they are re-thinking their position.
I set out for this car because it was a 4cyl Turbo. In the right hands these little things are quite capable of 300+RWHP on the stock engine and turbo. Just some tuning a intercooling. After market turbo, cam and injectors and you can see 400+RWHP. The stock internals start giving up the ghost about 500+.
I dont want to go to extreme though as it needs to remain fairly reliable and easy to drive, not to mention stock looking and sounding.
As soon as my supercharger off my Trailblazer sells I hope to pick up a full set of Maximum Motorsports suspension for the car and get to work.

You got a sweet 84 Turbo. Give me some more info on the TBSS. I was thinking about looking at one of those for a dail.y driver. WHat do you think about them?

I love my Trailblazer. The only real issue you see with them is the transmission, it has the 4l70e which behind the 400hp LS2 and the vehicle weighing 5000lbs is a match for disaster. Of course we all race our Trailblazers and they were not made for nitrous, supercharges, drag radials, etc. For a DD and stock or a mild there are no issues.
I have 4.56 gears in mine, drive it like I stole it and still get between 13 & 15 mpg. I have gone 11.30@120 on a preemie shot (35hp) and 11.9@114 without. They are legitimate high 13 second trucks stock. I went 13.7@100 flat with just a cold air intake, no tune, on factory tires.
These have a pretty good following. Not sure if it is against the rules here but if you want a link to the best Trailblazer SS site PM me. Lots of good info and several great buys on built Trailblazers, like a stroker with built tranns for $16k.
Here is my best run
