The overdrive band took at crap, that sucks. Do you drive the car around town in OD. These AOD's shouldn't be engaged into OD until over 50 mph, and are going to be at cruising speed.

Don't know anyone local to you that rebuilds transmissions. But if you want to get a real good AOD, check out Dan Gilsdorf's site. He builds some very, very god AOD's.

i dont think the o/d band craped out i rode with him and it would pull in o/d but as soon as he put the gas to it it started slipping its like it dont fully lock in o/d

1st thing to check is the grommet for the TV cable........when I first got my GT it wouldnt do anything in OD due to the fact it was missing the grommet for the TV cable.

x2 the TV grommet will cause big headaches down the road if it is bad now

If it's not fully locking up, then it could be the converter. Or it could be the band starting to go.

I would double check the little plastic TV cable bushing also. Up by the throttle body.

Your lucky it didn't fry your tranny.:yes1: Without the TV bushing, an AOD don't last many miles at all.

I put these on, I just don't trust the plastic ones.

Fry it no.............maybe just sizzled a little.......I put one of the plastic ones in because I didnt want to wait for the metal one to be shipped. I'm going to put a metal one in soon though.

Like I said you were lucky. :yes1: You might have to ream the hole a little to get the metal one to fit properly.:thumbsup1:

hey john, maybe you could call rodney at rocket performance in yorktown. he did mine and he specializes in mustangs. he can def help you out.

like the other guys said though you never want to get on it at wot (wide open throttle in od) it will def burn it up. you might also want to look into a external tranny cooler. heat is the number one killer on these. i got one hooked up and i think it helps. i got a towing sized one from summit. the stock one is in the side of the radiator and doesn't hold much so can't cool much either.

most of the guys will agree i'm sure. even on a stock engine the aod is not enough to deal with that power level. the od is too weak to continue to hold up under wot.

glad i could help

as soon as i get caught up i will def be bringing my car over there to get all freshened up with your awesome paint skills!!!!!!!! you have some amazing

Your 100% correct, AOD's are not to be ran WOT in OD, stock or built.

why because ford made such a weak transmission for our cars?

Yeah, he's definitely got issues in there with either the O/D band, or the T/C. I adjusted the TV cable for him to factory spec and there wasn't any change. He might get something from a fluid/filter swap, but I doubt it. You know me John, I tried looking at it from the bulletproof standpoint, but that one you and I looked at sure looked like a nice deal too ! BTW, Silverfox does have a good reputation...

My ears were burning....
Too bad you got the raw end on that AOD.
As Forest the transmission builder says " Reman trans are like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get"

what cable and carb combo are you using....I hope LOKAR something.
you will need to explain the issue a little better...like what gear you are in when you feel this nuetraling effect.
