View Full Version : Tranny Problems
Ok almost everytime i take off my tanny pops out of 1st gear, and if i shift hard into 2nd it grinds a little. I been thiking about rebuilding or just buying another. But now my friend has a totaled 99 v6 mustang with a 5 speed in it. Will this tranny fit in my 86?:sad1:

Unfortunately the V6 out of a 99 car will NOT work. The Input Shaft is different. As for your issues, unfortunately it sounds like your syncros and blocking rings are worn. Not including any other potential wear and tear on an 86 transmission. Depending on your funds, I would suggest possibly buying a unit with a warranty.

I'd say to call Trai as well if he's local for ya. Sounds like you need rebuilt or replaced. Popping out of gear is usually a sure sign that a T-5 is headed South for a permanent vacation...

Thanks everyone for the props.I can probably repair just the problem with out a complete rebuild unless you keep driving it.It will get worse and start to take out innocent parts.

Yeah my dumb ass put the engine together in my car and never checked the tranny fluid. I burnt it up there was no fluid. Then I got another tranny for $100 so I could drive the car but if I don't double clutch it grinds going into 2nd gear. Someone told me it was the syncro that was bad when they do that.
