View Full Version : "Foxtoberfest" Concord Meet at Fox Mustang Restoration(Locust, NC) - 10/22/11
1992vert
09-27-2011, 10:46 PM
We have a special meet planned for October where the folks at Fox Mustang Restoration(FMR) in Locust, NC are opening their doors for an SEFB visit.
See this post for a major update on this event...http://southeasternfoxbodies.com/forums/showpost.php?p=331904&postcount=53
We met the owner(Matt) down at Mustang Week and mentioned we wanted to come check out the place, to which he welcomed the idea. Considering FMR is one of the first sponsors of the upcoming Fox Mustang Magazine(FMM) and with a fox body club holding a meet there, the magazine obviously wants some coverage. FMM has a contributing tech/how-to editor here in Charlotte that plans to attend. Matt is also putting out an APB to his clients in the region that may or may not already be SEFB members.
We need as many of you that can make it to come. Between SEFB and Matt's customers we could see 30+ foxes in attendance....which will be a sight to see! I can just imagine an article in one of the early additions of FMM with a picture of Matt's parking lot overflowing with foxes!!! :yes1:
To keep lunch simple Matt will order pizza(Domino's) and provide drink's for us. SEFB & FMR is picking up lunch so all you need is gas money to get there and back!!!
So what do you say...can you make it???
Saturday October 22nd
9am to ???
Fox Mustang Restoration
105 Pine Forest Dr.
Locust, NC 28097

I havent had the chance to come to a SEFB meet yet just because there havent been any close to me since i joined, so im planning to come to my first this october! I had decided to go to "Ponys On The Parkway" on the 22nd and 23rd but i belive I am going to come to this instead it seems like it will be a great meet and touring the facilitys of FMR will be interesting, hopfully there will be a great turn out!
See you there! :thumbsup1:

I really want to come but it may be a stretch. Its a four hour ride for me so if I came I'd wanna spend the night and that is right in between the south georgia race and good guys in concord so I don't know if the funds will allow three out of town weekends in a row.

I'm close to convincing myself to do it. I'd probably stay Friday Night somewhere east of ATL. and get up at 6 and make a 3 hour drive to put me there at 9:00.
What happens later? I don't see any plans for anything past lunch. Hate to think that I'd drive all that way, and the place becomes a ghost town at 5PM.

Appreciate that, but I would never try and make a 7.5 hour drive at night.
I mean I love driving this thing, but not after spending the entire day at a show. Can't afford to nod off in this car. The Manual rack, and solid universal steering joints, make the steering a little...... "unforgiving".
If I do both days, it'll be more like I'll leave Monday morning.

If you do decide to do this, the Upstate, SC crew from the Greenville area; could meet up with you on I-85.:thumbsup1:

Weather permitting I'm coming.
They don't know it but this car is a FMR "Jerry's Kid." Every piece of trim, weather stripping, carpet, mats and the upholstery came from there.
I'll need some advice on a hotel for saturday night. I will probably make the Greenville thing the next day, and stay the night there before heading for home.
I hope you guys realize that I'm getting into my Weber fund to do this.
Somebody better have some beer, that's all I gotta say.

This should turn out to be a great event. I'll be there plus one. I'm trying to get my buddy w/ his 93 Saleen w/ only 30k miles on it to go. I might have to buy him a case of Dew to get him to bring it. If not I'm going to be driving the FJ again. Either way I will be there. Does anybody want to meet off of I-85 around Charlotte?

Think I would like to make this! Give me a chance to see if they have anything I could use on my 92 SSP, plus I'd get to meet a bunch of other foxbody owners. Always fun to talk Mustangs. Redtang93, just let me know where & when, so we can meet up! Anyone that was planning to do the "Ponies on the Parkway", this will not interfere with that, since it will be Sunday where this is on Saturday. Also, given this event's location, it should be possible to even make the Meet 'n Greet event that evening in Winston Salem!

Hey Guys, Matt and Jenn here (FMR owners). First of all, we are as excited for this event as you are! Any friend of a Fox is a friend of ours. We see this day as an informal get-together among Fox fans and an opportunity for us get to know one another. Feel free to wander around the showroom, the shop, the Fox-filled parking area and just relax. It’s gonna be a great day!
We thought we would give you a layout of the day and some general info about us, our location, our staff and such.
Time: Even though the official event time is from noon to 3pm (this is when all of the drawings, food and part installation demonstrations will occur), we are open every Saturday from 9am-5pm, so you are welcome any time in between.
Location: Our 7000 sq ft warehouse sits on 1.5 acres and has 21 legitimate parking spaces.
Parking: Yes, we said 21 legitimate parking spaces and we assume you did the math too. We will have enough space for anyone who comes but some of the parking will be creative. Some cars will be parked in grass or gravel. Our vision is to have all of the Foxes in the front and all of the non-Foxes in the rear or in the fenced area. Our staff will be helping everyone get parked, so please be patient. Please see the Google Map aerial shot to get a better feel for the layout and parking situation.
Staff: On event day our staff will be wearing event t-shirts that are marked “STAFF” on the front and the back. We are all very friendly and excited to meet y’all, so don’t be shy, introduce yourselves! There’s Whitney who does Sales, Customer Service, our Website, Facebook and eBay Sales, Kelly, who is Matt’s assistant but also does Sales, Customer Service and our eBay auctions and Meaghan, who does Shipping and Receiving as well as maintains the inventory in the warehouse. Jenn is the co-owner and deals with the overall business operations as well as show logistics. And of course, there’s Matt, the co-owner and brains behind the business. He knows his way around a Fox so feel free to ask him any questions. All of us can help you find parts and can answer questions about the parts that we stock.
Event Time Table:
9:00 FMR opens for business
12-3 Whitney will be collecting names for the various drawings
12:00 First delivery of pizza
12:30 Second delivery of pizza
12:45 Drawing for Fox Mustang Magazine 12-month subscription/t-shirt
1:30 Drawing for 79-86 parts to be installed
1:30 Matt will start part installation demonstration on the 79-86 car
2:15 Drawing for 87-93 parts to be installed
2:15 Matt will start part installation demonstration on the 87-93 car
3:00 Drawing for Mustang Accessory Gift Pack
3:00 Drawing for Fox Mustang Magazine 12-month subscription/t-shirt
5:00 FMR closes
Part Drawings: We want to do some part installation demonstrations to show you some do’s and don’ts of restoration. And whose car are we going to do the demonstration on? Yours! See Whitney to enter your car in the drawing. The parts being installed on the 79-86 car are a restored set of windshield moldings (3-piece thin metal trim), lower windshield moldings (plastic between the cowl grill and the windshield) and the cowl grill. The parts being installed on the 87-93 car are the exterior dew wipes on the door, the outer belt molding which goes over the dew wipe and the roof rail moldings.
Other notes: If you speed through town you will more than likely get pulled over and it might even be by a Mustang. Fair warning, undercovers are everywhere. If you want to eat breakfast here in town we suggest 200 North Family Restaurant or if you are just looking for a great cup of joe there is a coffee house here called The Daily Grind.
If we left anything out or you have any questions, feel free to ask. See you guys at the first annual Foxtoberfest and "Thanks for helping us Save the Foxes"!

I just booked a room in Greenville at the econolodge on interstate court.
Don't know what the security is like or the risk, for that matter, but the hotel said that they would allow me to park it under the portico right in front so maybe I'll be OK.
After buying gauges, and spending $1200+ on wheels this week, I'm just about all bled out. So I guess I'm slumming it to the "fest". The only step down from there is a tent.:)
AS for me, I'll be in Greenville around 5PM friday, and can meet whoever, whenever on Sat morning for breakfast and the drive in, or the drive and breakfast. All I know is I hope I can get one of the 21 civilized parking spaces when we get there.

What wheels did you go with Mike?
I picked the centerline softtail
http://centerlinewheels.com/images/wheel_deals/12517softtail.jpg
This link was posted this morning on another thread, but "disappeared" w/ issues about an hour later.
They are custom billets, it'll take a month before I see em.
The price was too good, and they were on my "list" anyway.

Thanks guys. I have to admit this is a much tighter knit group than what I have encountered elsewhere. Stangnet has typically 500+ users on any given night lurking at the bottom of the page, but it's always the same 12 or so that participate.
