So after the windshield flew up and screwed my weekend up...

Fixed with new glass yesterday 1.30 pm, do I drive it NOOOOO lol hood pin time.

Drove all over the place, I wanted a set with torsion clips, don't like the pins... so I went to advance... 8.99 just pins no clips... went to autozone... strange guy that scared my girlfriend tried to sell me every ricer mod in the isle... had the clip kind and sliding torsion clips that look stupid but they were 16.99... went to napa, nothing... Figured I'd see if my dad had any this afternoon so I didn't buy anything yesterday.

Today my brother needed a ride to take some trans fluid to O'reilys auto and I took him (his trans went out in his 00 taurus the other day) and I figured while I was there... why not ask.

WOAH unexpected, they actually had them... Good thing I went there instead of advance auto first. 11.99 or so, which is a dollar cheaper than I could have ordered them from advance anyway.

SO, final result, 12 bux, 1.5 hours (using a 1/8 drill bit ONLY) it was a pita making that 1/8 hole into 7/16-1/2 through 2 layers of fiberglass hood...

Scuff pads outside 4 screws are 3 and 6-7/8" from side of hood.

I didn't see any point in trying to keep a car with Centerline Warrior rims, 4" cowl hood, race exhaust, and a 5" tach looking "stock" LOL hood pins just top it off.

3 pics total if you care :)

Oh and the top layer came off the bottom layer in the back right side after the hood flew up and torqued it off... so I've got to glue it down still... Barely got done pinning it at 6.

TY, but it needs a little tlc still. The cowl is messed up and will take a little working on, but the rest is good to drive and that's what I was going for today.

Looks good,:thumbsup1: you might want to invest in a extra set of pins, and double check them before you drive any place.:yes1:

Yeh, I'm going to snag some more torsion clips when I visit my dad... and I left the original latch, this is more of a safety "hood not flying up again" concern I was dealing with.

Figure why waste ANOTHER 240$ on a replacement gauge & windshield when these are so new... lol

Well because the little kit from mr gasket doesn't come with the wire, Depending on my mood tomorrow I might put a wire on them at my padres... If he's home this time... I want to get my front rims mounted.

Took the stock hood stops off and bolted the pins right in... Plus its a square hole so you have some adjustment to position the pins to the middle of the bump stops to make it all even and line up well.

It would have taken me 20 minutes if I'd had a 7/16 or 3/8 drill bit but I didn't want to take the risk of driving on the stock latch again.

Cheap 12 dolla kit, no washers, nuts bite plenty of the metal support and the pins are a perfect fit for the hole with 1/2" side to side adjustment. If you get a decent kit offline you'll have the pin straps and washers included (and it won't rust, the mr gasket kit supposedly will, test them with a magnet if they say stainless.)
