View Full Version : Blowing out spark, what plugs?
Just installed a Kenne Bell and it feels like it is blowing the spark out. Runs good (not great) until the boost comes in and then it just falls flat. I started with autolite 23's gapped at .035 and now I have them gapped at .028. That helped alot, but still falls flat if I hit boost at low rpm's. Should I be running the long reach 3923's? Engine is a fresh 306 with e-cam and windsor jr heads, cobra lower with KB blower. 255lph fuel pump, MSD 6A. I took it to tuner thinking maybe tune was off really bad or not getting fuel. He said the fuel was there but spark was breaking up so we stopped. Any ideals?

msd 6AL
msd 6AL
Are you saying I need to upgrade to the 6AL? Isn't it the same power wise, just with the addition of the rev control?

how much boost are you running, if your running big boost numbers may have to make a tighter gap on the plugs, or could be coil or something weak causing the spark to not be as strong as it needs to be. im sure 1992vert or a few of the other members with KeeneBells will see this and give better input.

From everything I looked at the 23's would be the correct plug for your heads and boost. With a .028 gap and a 6A box you should be fine unless something is wrong with it or the coil.
I know the boost curve of a KB is different but still usually spark blowout is at higher rpms.
Thats what I was thinking. Thanks for the info.
