what are you actually trying to do? cnage the speed sensor or the little plastic gear that controls your speedo after you put gears in the rear?

I was trying to change the speedo gear......but #1 I think the speedo cable is the problem and #2 I don't think I have the right gear
This is the one in my car

This is the one I bought to replace it

Back to the drawing board................ or is there another gear inside the part where the cable is going into the speed sensor?

you don't have to take the cable out to change the gear brother, the gear is just held on with a clip then it pulls out and the other slides in its place and put the clip back.

See the little metal tab/clip at the top of the gear near the speed sensor?? Pocket screwdriver or a pick and it pops right out, slide it off, slide the new one on and push the clip back in.

Yeah the big blue gear is the speedo driven gear. The metal clip holds it to the speed sensor body.

The gear in the pic on the end of that speed sensor IS the speedo gear. but from the looks of it, you have a new speedo gear for a manual...... not the AOD

Thanks. Funny thing is I still have the packaging where I bought the gear.....said it was for AOD so they must have sent me the wrong thing. The gear that came out of the trans looked fine.....no chewing of the gear and it spun freely......so it looks like it is a cable problem. Anybody need a tan 19 tooth gear ?

It could also be the speedometer itself. My cable had melted and I put another one in and my speedometer still works when it feels like it
if you get a speedo cable, get one form napa. $31 dollars gets you everything! the sheath and the cable... ask me how i know :-/
