Well got the MSD box and the coil put in today. Still dont have the wires on, I haven got em cut down to size yet.
I decided to take a look at the distributor cap and rotor and they were corroded and rusted so I need to change them out bad. Looks like it might have been the original cap and rotor. :lol1:
Now heres the delimma. I got the box wired up right using the wiring harness to wire it into the coil. The car idles fine, steady at 850-900rpms.
I know the box works because I put the 3000rpm pill in and turned it 3000 and it hit the limiter. The car acts like its missing or skipping when I drive it down the road around 1500rpms on up. Any suggestions guys the cars running like crap........ :sad1:
Im thinking Im definetly going to replace the plugs, distributor cap, and rotor button. I didnt take the plugs out but if they look anything like the cap and rotor thats not good. The wires on it are Accel Super Stock Hi Temp 8mm Spiral Cores.
Oh one last question. Ive never had an MSD box inside the car before so I dont know but should the MSD box be making a light buzzing sound? The one I had on my old 93 LX was under the hood so of course I didnt hear it if it did.
I just read below in 89stang1's thread about a pip sensor and maybe another problem. Could that be it?

I would def replace the cap, rotor, and plugs. Your msd throws a good bit more juice(10,000 more volts) and the hum your getting(as well as the miss) could be from the resistance in your corroded cap. Not 2 say your wires are no good but ive never had good luck with accels on my foxes. The ford wires are awesome for mild street cars, and taylors are the shiz. Hope this helps.

My MSD buzzes also. As for the miss, recheck the timing after its all installed, replace all suspect parts and then lets go from there.

Well after talking to 89Stang1 and doing some research on the web, I think my problem is gonna be the PIP sensor. Im gonna change that the cap and rotor and get these MSD wires cut down to size and put on and well see what happens. I bought the plugs today............
Thanks guys, Ill let you know what happens.

Got the part and ordered the distributor cap and just dropped the distributor off to a guy I know that owns a garage to put the piece in the distributor. Should be done today.................. Then just got to get the distributor put back in, plugs in, and get the wires cut and put on. And well see what happens.

Got the new pip sensor installed in the distributor and got it painted and cleaned up, put a new cap and rotor button on it too. Put her back in the car last night. Got the wires cut and sized and ready to on. Now all I gotta do is change the plugs and well see if it worked.......................

Well I guess that wasnt the problem..................... She's running better than she was but still running like crap. I give it the gas and it just doesnt want to go.
Its got new wires, plugs, cap, rotor, and pip sensor as well as a new coil and the MSD box. I thought there for aminute it might have been the box but believe me it runs ALOT better with the box plugged in.
Im leaning towards the fuel pump issue. Guess its time to try the fuel system checks. Im gonna try to get it dropped off Tues to get this fuel pump put in and this adjust regulator. Im gonna have the timing and fuel pressure checked and see if that dont fix it.

dam! its gotta be fuel u have covered all ignition parts, i thought u said earlier fuel pressure was good? i guess u dont have a adj fuel pressure gauge on motor if not thats what will show u if u have a fuel problem:thumbsup1: good luck bro i know what you are going thru it sucks!

Yeah it does but on a lighter note I can tell it does run better with the new stuff than before I changed it. :lol1: Im gonna go ahead and get this pump put in since I gotta change it soon anyway. Its still go the stock regulator on it. Im gonna change the filter on it too.

The connectors in the rear of the intake the connects the injector harness to the engine harness. They can come loose, get corroded, burn, etc. Any kinda movement or shaking can make them loose contact and not pulse fuel injectors.

Thanks guys Ill check em out. I did notice the mount that theyre mounted onto the back of the intake with was loose and all you had to do was just lift em off. Just about everything I replaced with the ignition system was corroded. Probably from the car sitting up as long as I was told it did.....................

Well guys got the Cobra dropped of at my friends shop this evening. Reall quick he plugged up a fuel pressure gauge to it. When he turned the key on the pressure only went to 5psi. After the car started the pressure slowly went up to 40psi. Gonna put the new pump in tomorrow and set the pressure and go from there..................

Well fellas looks like the fuel pump was the culpirt............. The hose running off the fuel pump had about 3 splits in it and was probably spraying half the fuel it was pumping back into the tank. Put the 340lph in there and it fired right up on the first turn of the key where as before you had to turn the key 3 or 4 times to get it to start. Timings a little off and gonna do some adjusting tomorrow to get her back to full strength.
Looks like the plastic around the top of the pump was seperating too.

glad to hear shes running good!! well after a month ago having to put a new pip sensor or called hall effects sensor in dizzy now i have more friggan ignition problems!!!. :sad1: My car did not start one day when i took her to work at lunch then after trying everything just before the flatbed arrives she starts. Then 2 days later i go for ride and at 60mph she dies like someone turned the key once again 10 at nite right before flatbed arrives she starts. After doing some research i remember these symptoms and go get a 80 dollar napa elkin TFI sensor after doing a nice job putting it on using good heat sink grease where module up against TFI and dielectic grease on connections, i go to start her and shes not running right well true to form i forgot to mark rotor direction in dizzy when i took dizzy off:sad1: now i need to find TDC then time her never did this before or other idea is to get someone that knows how to fix it over to do it.

Check the alternator. My 93 LX I had used to do that exact same thing and it was a bad diode in the alternator.
