When 1sxyfox and I were changing the pinion seal/u joints we noticed 2 wear spots where the driveshaft was rubbing against the underside of my car. what's the best way to stop this from happening being I need to take some of it back apart to smash on the last u join clip on. hoping to get a fast reply before I start on it. was wondering if I can just grind the underside of the car out some, just not sure if I can go all out on it or have to be careful as to not grind through to the cab of it. it's rubbing right in the middle of the driveshaft.

Where is it rubbing? It should not be rubbing unless your car is lowere more than 2 inches. Instead of making additional room for it to rub, try and find the problem causing the rub.

There is nothing that you could have done by removing it, and then reinstalling it to cause a rub.

Is it the underside of the car, or some part of the exhaust hitting it?

I know I'm saying that before I removed it I heard a small noise from back there and now I see what it might be coming from. There's wear spots on the driveshaft where it's rubbed. Also, the car has been lowered 1.5", that's all.

it's underside of the car, nothing with exhaust, right in the middle.

Very strange for sure. 1.5" should not create any issus. What is odd is the location you are describing. At that point it should be just about where the front of the mufflers are.

I've had some problems with a car being lowred 1.5 inches and have a aluminum driveshaft.......There is entirely not enough room, after buying several emergency brake cables we finally figured that out...put the stock driveshaft back in and wala,no more hitting

the best way to correct the hitting when you have an aluminum driveshaft is to buy adjustable upper control arms and set you pinion angle and bam your done

none of the above, it's rubbing against the underside of the car. none of those other components.

What is the condition of the rear shocks? Do you roll with three of your heaviest friends in the car? I had the same problem in my taxi but it was only when I had 5 passengers that it would rub. How did you drop the car? Aftermarket springs or cut coils?

it was really weird look at this when we got under the car, its almost like the car was sittin down on the drive shaft for a min when it was turnin cause you could even see where it had been on the drive shaft, at it wasn't just hit and miss it was all the way around the shaft like it had made a few rotations, there was 1 spot that was maybe an inch wide and then about a 2 inch gap then another wear spot that was about 2 inches wide.

guess I was slightly off.. there's plently of room for the driveshaft to rotate w/o hitting anything. my guess is it just bumps the underside of the car when I get on it. it hits the bumpstop everytime too.. think i could use some new suspension in the rear.

this is what I was talking about, you can see a little rubbing where the ebrake assembly is like runningpony98 had mentioned

new bushings in your controlarms and a new pinion snubber will d the trick

seems like it may be just your upper bushings. get a good set of polty bushings for you control arms and dont orget to get the housing bushings for the top of the carrier assembly on the axle
