used a cheap bearing press from harbor freight. dad kept saying how much nicer it was than beating them in with a socket and hammer.

If the clips won't go back on, the bearing cup is not seated properly. Possibly 1 or more bearings have popped out. Unfortunately you need to pull it apart and check or you will have a vibration.

As for the pics......WHERE THE HELL ISTHE BEER?

O yea that happened. One needle bearing was all that was stopping us from getting the clips in. Just took everything back off and found that out. Time to put it back together now I guess.

i had the same problem with the clips not seatin but mine was because there was some built up dirt inside the seat. fords are alot better to change than newer chevys. gotta use a torch to get the ujoints outta those buckets

lol beer  but are you kidding me if i was drinkin beer and workin on this car it prob wouldn't have been a car by the time he got back from the parts store, i would have had it and the shop in a huge ball of flames from being pissed while trying to hammer the old joints out.....

and pete **** that stupid needle bearing, oh well atleast you got it back together, now you should get off your lazy butt drive to my side of base and take some pics.... that is if that pile will make it that far :taunt:

hahah yea i might depends on what the wifey says after I fill up rear and tranny fluids. that last ujoint went on like a dream after i realigned the bearings lol. i could use the small "beater" to get it on instead of the big one.

I just take the driveshaft to Southern Auto/Carquest on Onslow drive they charge like $10 for each u-joint. I've had my share of beating them things with the hammer.
