Virginia Beach. VA. get together

As some of you may already know, a number of members here as well as from numerous other sites, and a group spanning no less than 4 different states are planning to get together in Virginia Beach, VA. on the weekend of January 30 / Feb 1. We're hoping to have some dyno time setup at Dynto Tuned Performance in nearby Chesapeake, VA as part of the gathering. We dont have anything else set in stone other than spending time with longtime friends, and making some new ones. I've already been in contact with numerous folks from all over that plan to attend, and we also hope to squeeze in some time for various repairs that some of the members need/want done, but that require assistance, or just to have fun sharing on the help. We also want to do an impromptu cruise, as well as I'm sure plenty of time for meeting and greeting of new/old friends as well as plenty of pics for here as well as other boards. I heartily invite anyone else that would like to show up regardless of how long you can stay, we'll welcome you ! Even though this isn't planned to be a huge event, it will be quality time. We already have a good mix of friends coming, a span of Fox, SN, and New Edge, and buddies from here and other sites as well as a surprise visit from an old H/S buddy of mine that happens to now be stationed in the area. Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to this, and hope that some more folks would like to share as well. Yes, unfortunately it looks like we have a scheduling conflict with Brent spending some quality time with his daughter. Thats definitely more important, so I'll simply stay longer and see him on Monday instead, and we can focus on other things. I've talked with a few members that need to get a couple things done to their cars, so maybe we can all felp each other wrench a bit if we can find a space to fit us all. If the groups not too big we could do this at my folks place, or if the group is a little larger maybe at my Brothers house. I'll persue both avenues just in case ! Anyway, we can get some work done together, have a cruise, take some pics for everyone, and have plenty of time to get to know everyone. If Adam's got room for everyone, maybe we can do it there too if needed, we can make it all work though, and spending time together is the important thing anyhow. I'll be in the area Friday evening, and now will likely not leave until Monday evening...

Afterwords we'll get a cruise in, some pics, and grab chow wherever the group consensus leads us. With all the great places to eat in the area, it shouldn't be hard to walk away with everyone happy after it's all said and done ! I'm SOOOOOOOO looking forward to this !!!

these guys here are great, have always been helpful. it's def more friendly. you don't get bashed nearly as easy for anything. i guess it helps that alot of the member know each other in person.

If we could all pitch in and go get some food (a Walmart is 5 miles from the shop) it would save us some money, if ya'll wanna do that instead of going out to eat? I just know that money is tight everywhere, and anyplace we can save would be a plus. Whatever ya wanna do.

that is a yes on the door panels got them form the same place as the seat skins.. these are my first try on the door panels, i think they came out just fine.. the seat skins have faded out on the sides some from the sun i called 5.0 resto and told them the prob. the asked for some pic. then said that would send me all new skins (and they did !!!!:thumbsup1:) just got put them in and get some tint so it wont haping again

Not sure what time will be good. Many of us will be road weary ( I'm actually leaving in the morning from New Orleans, drive to Greenville, MS pick up the truck, drive to Florida, sleep a couple hours, and drive to V/B ) I know I've already been up since yesterday, I wont get to sleep after this watch since I'm getting ready for turnover, and then I have 30 hours of driving with a couple hours nap in the middle. I for one am going to look like warmed over dog5h1t by the time I get there LOL ! Then we'll wait for the folks to show from the ride in on Friday, likely head over to get checked into a motel, and you KNOW we're going to have to have a few beers too ! All that being said, and now that I'm labled as whiner HAHA ! We'll be there as early as we can get the group moving and take turns in the shower and whatnot. The earlier the better for me !!!

Scott's coupe is kinda kickn our ass right now, can't get to idle workin on it though.


We carpeted my RSD, Trans fluid swap on Ricks SVO, and a oil change on it too, and on Mikes 94? we did a underdrive crank pulley!

What an AWESOME get together ! I really enjoyed hanging out with old friends, and getting to meet new ones ! We had a productive day for sure, but ran into some issues on a few of the cars as well. I'll break some of that down for yall...

Special Fred:

"Padme" was exhibiting some strange tranny driveability issues, so being concerned about the possibility of a broken small clutch cable ( they use 2 unlike the 5.0 setup ) Rick brought one in case it was broken. It wasn't, but it SURE needed the new tranny fluid ! He also had a whupped TPS. Trust me, yall aint seen one that bad LOL ! That he also had a new one on hand, but with the wrong connector. We replaced that today before departure at my folks' house, but still had to bust him off to start as the ignition switch appears to have failed now as well. He plans to be back down here again from Richmond in a few hours, so he and I will finish it up then.

BDASPONY:

Scotts car required the most effort, and then fought us with a number of issues to add to the fun factor LOL ! After the install of the new intake assembly the car was showing spark knock at high rpm regardless of timing/fuel pressure settings. After we located and installed a set of 30# injecotrs/MAF ( done in 27 minutes by MustangCRZY302 and Geargambler ) thats when the REAL fun started as the car could NOT be made to run right. We also found a broken TFI module that we were lucky to be able to grab the almost new one from my car as I was putting in the new MSD dist. and it came with a new module. After messing with TPS adjustment ( needed ) base idle ( needed ), and IAC adjuster ( needed ) nothing wanted to work for us. Finally in frustration I ripped the MAF assembly off my car, and voila ! It ran fine ! Knowing what he needs now, Scott is also planning to return here to my folks' house in a few more hours for parts install, and then we'll return my car to running condition...

Geargambler:

Mike already had a Pro 5.0, flows, and Tokicos on the car, so we simply did the Cobra crank pulley graciously provided by Shifter. Now the mods begin !!!

The Coupe started running mysteriosuly crappy about halfway up the highway, and Adam, Mike, Rick and I started playing with it as soon as we could fit it in the bay. We swapped to my new 86 seats ( swapping again to Scotts old 90 seats but installing the 86 halo's ), did a MSD coil and billet Distributor, and started working on the driveability issues. Timing, fuel pressure, base idle, and IAC adjustment were all verified, and we were scratching heads for bit until I found the main vacuum connector was broken loose and simply hanging down in the bottom of the passenger side. So many of the old brittle hoses were damaged, so I simply built a new setup and installed it, and the car runs MUCH better ! The plugs are fouled from the STUPID rich condition opf course and will be swapped out today for a new set of Autolite 24's and the reinstall of my MAF assembly from use on Scott's car. I'll post up the Dyno results after I go to DTP on tuesday. The Coupe will be staying up here for a couple months for a complete redo of the paint. The car needs some pretty heavy prep, and John's going to do a custom paint job for me as well. I'll be driving the Lightning back home, and will return later for the Coupe after it's completed. Based on all the work I've seen him do though, I must say I'm VERY excited about what we have planned for the car. I'll post pics after it comes back home !!!
