What is normal operating temp on a 89 gt?And car is acting kinda like it has a stall in it.Never did it before a trip to Shadyside and back.Didnt run car just watch. It like kicks into neutral when you let off off gas and takes forever to shift.Serviced it about 4000 miles ago.Rebuilt by jasper by previous owner.

have the fluid lines checked for clogs or leaks. also check inside the radiator to make sure tha coolant reservoir for the trans idnt bust and release the rans fluid into the cooling system. what temp is the car running? normally ru 190-195 degrees with stock thermostat.

check your filter in the trans ans the temps for the trans should not be above 140 in the winter.my 4r100 never even gets to 100 in the winter unless i am towing

Check to see if the TV bushing up by the throttle body is toast (most likely not) second I would have the TV pressure checked. And check the fluid at operating temp.
My car drove perfect, next time I went out it wouldn't shift out of 1st. Got back to the garage (home) checked the fluid, it was a little low, put some in. Took it for a ride, and felt like what yours is doing. Stock converter feels like a 4,000 stall converter.
This my opinion.
The TC has went bad, putting metal into the tranny, hurting it. Hate to say it, but most likely time for a new AOD/Converter.
Hope not though for you.

Can't go wrong with flushing everything out of the radiator and the tranny.

You can try running a bottle of b12 Chemtool from Orielly's through the trans, after it is hot, then drive for 10 min MAX, drain and service with filter.
