I am thinking about switching my front shocks to a coilover setup. Was thinking about lakewood 70/30 with mm coilovers.
Just wondering the pros and cons will it work ok to transfer weight and is there any modifications or do they pretty much bolt in?
Up front I am running 255/45/17, 17by9 03 4 lug cobras.
Thanks for the help in advance...

A Coil Over is going to change ride quality for sure. With the Coil Over you have to run a Caster Camber plate also. I am a Maximum Motorsports Distributor if you need!

my car came with front coilovers when i bought it, they were fine with the stock wheels but when i went to a 17x9 with a 255/40 i had to run a 1/4in spacer because of the coil spring being too long, i think its a 14 inch spring, i have some 10 inch springs im going to try to see if the tires will clear the coil with out using a spacer

10" is too short for daily driving. That is a Drag Spring!

Are you sure about that? I told MM that my car was a daily driver, and they set me up with a 10" spring. Granted, I'm sure the spring rate is much higher than would be used in a drag car. The coilover springs perches are adjustable though, so you can set your ride height where ever you want with what ever spring length you choose.

What Specific Spring? You are also running a complete Suspension correct? That might have been where there suggestion came from!

Well let me know what you figure out with the new spring, I really don't wanna run no spacer......
I also am planning on switching over to a mm tubular k member and tubular a arms, don't know if this changes anything?..

i think you will find that you can't get the car to sit up high enough after a 10in spring install. The heavy spring rate is probably gonna make it ride like crap.just my .02.Let use know how it works with those on there.

Spring height is all dependant on what your looking to do with the car and is affected by the rate. I run a 14" spring in my "drag car" so the spring holds energy to help transfer the weight on a launch, but it's a lower rate. My car is also slammed.
A drag coil spring will usually transfer way more weight the a coilover spring. This is due to the spring design and the fact the unsprung weight ratio is harder on stock style coil spring then a coil over, due to the different locations of each setup.

I mainly drive the car on the street, and it sees very little of that. Having said that, from time to time I will probably go to the strip and I definitely want it to transfer. I don't mind giving up a little ride quality for better traction. I'm eventually gonna turbo the car. I was really wanting to know if the coilover is worth installing, or should I just stick with some drag springs?

I am now, but I was running MM coilovers before everything was complete. I still had the factory K-member and A-arms with 300 lb 12" springs. When I went to rear coilovers, they recommended a 275 spring in the rear, which necessitated a 375 lb 10" spring up front. My ride height didn't change very much, but I could raise the car up to an inch more if I had to. I am not lowered much at all. Remember, I'm running a 275/35/18 tire up front, so for fender clearance, I couldn't lower it too much. MM states that proper ride height is achieved when the A-arm is parallel to the ground, so that's where I set mine.

It works just fine. In fact, it rides better with the 375 lb 10" spring than it did when I my old 1.5" drop conventional lowering springs in there....FAR better!

Drag springs will get you more weight transfer usually, but going with coil overs and a K-member will get a good amount of weight off the front of the car. 60-70lbs.
