I have 1.7 Crane rockers on my car with a Trick Flow stage 1 cam and GT40P heads. My rockers are ticking like hell and I don't know what to do. Wildstang Racing said that I need to have shims put under my rockers but then I asked a Ford tech and he said that it would make the ticking worse. I am not questioning WildstangRacing but anyone else have any input on this? Thanks in advance for your help. This dang car is going to fight me till the end.

Did you check to see if you have the correct length pushrods, with a pushrod checker?

Years ago on my Lincoln LSC when we did the H/C/I install. We put stock length pushrods in, never could get the ticking adjusted out. Eventually had someone check with a pushrod checker, and ended up needing a little longer pushrod. Put the longer pushrods in, they motor purred like a kitten, and never had any more ticking.

When you put the rockers on, if it took more than 1 turn after they had no play to get to tq, you need longer push rods. Or if it took less than 1/4 turn, you need to shim

I was wondering if my lifters could have went bad. I have had the rockers and the cam installed for about 2 years and just now getting around to installing the motor. Also, what is the torque and the clearance suppose to be on my rockers. I think I tightened them down to 30ft #'s. Any more help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
