a tool and garage forum i keep on talked a lot about using Permatex 81950 Engine Assembly lube in ratchets. It's $4 a bottle from Adcanced Autoparts. I got an old snapon ratchet from the flea market that felt terrible. so i soaked it in ATF, took it apart, cleaned it out, put some lube in it. and wow it feels very nice for a fine tooth ratchet. my craftsmans were newer and cleaner so i just dropped some lube into it, amazing. i did this while watching TV and played with the ratchet some so the excess lube would bleed out. made a huge difference in my ratchets! so much smoother now.

juts a though :D

As a side note, new Snap On rachets are sealed units, not supposed to be serviced, taking it apart will void the warrenty as per my Snap On dealer.

Well he will warrenty anything for me, but I just know the head of the rachet says "Sealed head, opening may void warrenty". Its the new design rachets by Snap on just came out like 3-4 months ago. Just a heads up...

got my dad a new F80 for christmas... it feels amazing! but theres no way to tell if its been opened.

this works better for lower tooth count ratchets anyway.
