Details to be ironed out in the coming days/weeks, but the loose schedule is for the clubs to meet up just down the road from Rockingham Dragway and cruise in together around noon(maybe earlier). We'll have designated parking so there's no rush to get there(unless you want to of course). Club merchandise should be available for sale at the track so a great opportunity to pick up shirts, hats and stickers. There's a car show and other classes to participate in throughout the day(we'll post the final schedule when available). Tech inspection for the club racers still needs to be figured out as that usually takes place in the morning as well. The Club Shootout is supposed to be the last event on Saturday, so my guess would be 6-8pm for the 20mile cruise, cool down and 3 hotlaps. Those wanting to grab a hotel can choose from the list Holcomb provided below.
One key thing to remember is the racer list above is the only information giving about the cars to the other clubs or organizers. No motor combo's, track times or driver experience has been given. So in order to keep our cards hidden please refrain from discussing any performance figures(past or present) on the open boards. :bat:
Really looking forward to this and once again thank you to all the racers that volunteered. The second part of this is the turnout of additional club members. We really need a great showing, not only to support the racers, but to also let the local clubs and racing community see what SEFB is all about!!
See you at The Rock!!!!!!

I know this one is right behind the circle track "The Rock". Which right across Highway 1 is the Dragway.
http://www.yellowpages.com/marston-nc/mip/racetrack-campground-10328662/map?lid=10328662
I'll get in touch with Blake Holcomb, and see if there is more. I haven't been to Rockingham since 2001 for a Nascar race, there was camping everywhere back then on Highway 1 right near the track.
Looking for RV or tent camping?

The camp ground I'm speaking of is across the side road to the east of the track. Not sure of a name or anything, but I'm sure Blake would know. 1-800-475-RACE, is Holcomb Motorsports #, ask for Blake and he can fill ya in on what ever you need. Also, if anybody wants to blow some tax money, Blake said to call in your order ahead of time, and he can save you the shipping cost by bringing it to the track with him. Also, I think we're going to be meeting up at the Walmart in Hamlet or Laurenburg, all those little towns run together so i dont really know which town it is. A time is to be determined. Then leaving from there and taking hwy 1 in to the track.

I would also like to thank SEFB for stepping up to the challenge. We sent invitations to prob 10 or 11 "Big" clubs thinking we'd have a bunch of clubs step up to the challenge, but only 2 clubs took the challenge. With this being our first year doing this event, we weren't really sure how it'd turn out. But plans are already under way for next years event for bigger, better, and faster races. We look foward to seeing yall at the track and having a good time in good company.

Great, stop on by! We're easy to find. As you're walking down the return road towards the end of the track keep looking to your left. When you get to the RV spots we're in #3. They are labeled on the electric hook up boxes :) . I'll make sure dad has a few captain and cokes so he'll be set on kill! :D

This is the message I receive from Blake Holcomb.
"Yeah you can camp over in that parking area right next to the dragstrip and I am pretty sure it doesnt cost anything to camp over there. They also have RV hookups inside the track. Or you can camp inside the track once you pay to get in as long as you don't have to hook up to anything."
So it sounds like there should be no problem finding a place to throw up a tent.

Seems like I use to run 16-18 in them when I had that size. I stay up around 18 with the 275/40/17's I use now.
Automatic car but it went 1.39 on the 15's and 1.40 on the 17's.

I talked with Blake Holcomb today and he said we will be running with the true street part of Sat. which is after the 1st rd of Pro qualifying. We will be paired up with the other club cars racing. He thinks we will be doing this around 7 pm. We should have so good air by that time. He also said we will be responsible for looking over the other clubs cars to make sure there are no hidden tricks on the NA cars.

This is true. But I still would like to bring home the title. I hope we get a little bit of cool down time between passes. I know there are 24 cars running but it don't take long for that many cars to run.
Black01Bullitt
03-21-2011, 09:38 PM
We will be running with true street so there should be some cool down. Just remember you cant open your trunk or hood for any reason. Blake said if you can get to the trunk inside the car he doesnt care as long as the trunk doesnt get opened.

We're down to two. Sandhills had to forefit due to lack of available cars. They said they just didn't have the cars available rite now. So now it's just us and yall! If yall want our list it's Hollywood, Slolime, and MaxPower for NA. And SpeedJunky, Tiddies, and prob Screamingfast pa. One of our pa cars and one of our na cars both droped this week, so we moved out alternates in and are setting up new alternates now. Yall cant laugh if we show up with like a 14 sec na car now. Lol. Cuz we just may be forced to do this if none of our faster guys will step up.

I talked to Blake yesterday and he said he would like all cars racing there BY 11:00 am for a quick tech inspection. He also said the belt may not be ready by then, but he'll make sure it goes to the winning club as soon as it gets ready. He's not sure where we're gonna park, but said he would have somewhere roped off for us. Other than that everything's still on.

Sounds good Dan. 11am arrival will be fine. Like you and I talked about on the phone, I'm hopeful the club parking area will be close to the car show as we'll have a number of members wanting to participate in that as well and would prefer we're not spread all over the complex. :thumbsup1:

Ok, just got off the phone with Blake Holcomb to get a handle on how this will all go down.
Friday
- Holcomb TnT from 9am - 6pm(this tends to be for the big boys)
- Regular Friday Night TnT 6pm - ???
Saturday
- Gates open at 8am
- Tech Inspection opens at 8am
- Shakedown passes begin at 9am(kinda like a last minute TnT that's timed)
- Classes run all throughout the day(final schedule will be available at the track)
- 3rd round qualifying begins at 6pm, after that they'll run True Street which has the Club Shootout embedded
We well have designated parking for the clubs behind the spectator grandstand side of the track. This is the grassy area where they usually hold the car shows as well.
So you come in thru the main gate(pit side), pay and make your way over to the other side of the track(tell the workers your heading to the car show/club parking area). Establish base camp in the club parking area, fill out your tech cards for racing or info cards for showing. Then you're free to move your car into a show spot or head towards tech inspection.
We'll have all day to check out the club cars that'll be racing and set up pairings for the best action(side action that is ;)). The spectator grandstands will be right behind us for easy access to check out some racing throughout the day.
We'll have a table of merchandise for sale(shirts and stickers). We'll also have a grill for cooking out, so if you want to save some dough bring a cooler with your food to cook up.
RPM Magazine and GoneDragRacing.com will be on hand with media coverage. Spoils to the victor is a Club Shootout Championship belt, but Mickey Thompson and Fore Precision may step up with some love as well.
I know some of you are camping out Friday & Saturday night, but most will be day tripping on Saturday. NC STANG GUY, notch93 and myself plan to be there by 8:30am with our trailers and E-Z UPs so we'll be on the lookout for members as you roll in.
If have any questions post up here or feel free to call me on race day 704-661-1164(cell).
See you at The Rock!! :3gears:

Also...ATTENTION: SHOOTOUT RACER'S...you will need to pay your gate entry($20) and race fee($25) when you arrive, then see KB for reimbursement on race fee.
Way easier to do that instead of trying to pre-pay, only to confuse the track workers and create a snag along the way!! (hey...that ryhmed!) :thumbsup1:

Aint that the truth. Everytime I have seen him thats his outfit. Thanks for the Driveshaft Justin. I just got my car back on the road. Had to take the rear end apart to replace a side gear that was about to come apart. A twisted yoke can mess some stuff up. I will need a new gear and bearings after this weekend buit they should be fine for now. Just a bit of gear whine. I'm ready like everybody else, it cant get here fast enough. So WOT has hit it's share of speed bumps. I talked to Troy last night to tell him everything thats going on, but just so it doesn't look shadey I wanted to tell everybody on here. We're having people drop out left and right, my cars in the shop getting the rearend built and while buttoning everything up last night found out i was sent the wrong axles. They're too long and the hub is too big so my rotors won't go back on. We plan on having it done by Saturday, but just in case, I may not be racing. Speedjunkys car is at Fastlane getting it's rearend built and tuned but no word on when he's getting it back. We did talk one of our other guy into stepping up since we will prob be down a car between Speedjunky and myself. So 04Redfire will be our other PA car.

Very cool guys...curious to know if there were gift certificates?
Kenny H. mentioned a gift certificate for Darin being the fastest when we "cornered" him at his Motorhome:lol1:, then made it sound like everyone might get one when we spoke again on Wednesday...so plaques I see, but anything else?

Hey guys. We're already working on this falls Civil War race now. I wanted to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly on the event we just had so we can work on improving our event from here on out.

If I can get a little motivation I'll have my car done and at the fall race. I just need to get to work!!! I have to admit though it's a relaxing trip to just go down without a car and watch :D

Hey guys. We're already working on this falls Civil War race now. I wanted to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly on the event we just had so we can work on improving our event from here on out.
1. Better designated parking - Somewhere over on the pit road side of the track...could hardly hear the load speaker announcements where we were and very little spectator foot traffic
.
2. Some sort of contingency - Expensive these days anytime you run your car, nevermind the risk and potential added expense of breaking. Racing for pride is great, but racing for a prize would've brought more guys off the sideline(at least in our club it would have)
3. The True Street format worked well.
4. Letting the non-club cars go first was good.
5. Pairing up the cars like we did made for the best racing possible, although having an odd number of clubs(3) will make that more difficult.
6. I believe some guys would liked to of had a practice pass or two, but there seemed to be some confusion whether or when that would happen.
7. Running the Club Challenge/True Street on Saturday(vs Sunday) worked best and I believe would be our preferance again in the fall.
8. I liked how we had the clubs lined up across from one another in the "pits".
9. Not sure if running a Pro Tree vs Sportsman made a difference to anyone??
...and lastly, can you have Blake order up some better weather next time!!! :lol1:
