SLP's are loud. I've got a set of dynoflows on mine with tips and they are loud enough for me. I really would rather have 40's any day of the week. Just remember when you cut the tips off, it does indeed get louder, you also introduce my exhaust fumes to the cabin. I thought the 40 series was a single chamber. **** I've been out of the game for too long.

Are you wanting more sound for the least amount of green backs? Puttin' the loudmouths on be the cheapest would it not? Imo, if you cut 'em and turn 'em down, the sound kinda has to "fit" the ride...gotta look beastly & all out mean :)

I remember yrs back with the bike I rode, the quick fix to get more sound was to run a broom stick handle up inside the muffler and punch out e/thing in it's way.

OK apon further research the 40's are 2 chamber. The super 44's are the loudest that flowmaster makes. But the casing is a lot bigger than the standard 40 series. Meaning, if you have lowered your car you may have clearance issues.

A friend of mine with a 99GT has a new slightly used set of Super 44's.....I think he's looking to sell if you're interested... he put them on in Nov? but they didn't sound like he wanted .... I'll check with him if you like ....

The 44's are not as loud as the 40's. They are the same size, just the 44's are thicker made. We put a 44 on pop's Mountaineer, trust me there not as loud as a 40, he wants to rip the 44 off and put a 40 on. If you want the loudest flowmaster, then you go with a 1 chamber.

I just switched from a 2.5 inch Flowmaster 2 chamber dump setup, to a 3 inch Magnaflow dump setup, and even though the Maggies quieted down my Lightning, the Coupe sure is LOUD now !!!

From Flowmaster's website:
Flowmaster’s NEW Super 44™ muffler with its 4” x 9.75” x 13” all black finish case offers distinct advantages over our original 40 Series™ muffler. Using the technology seen in our larger Super 40™ mufflers, the Super 44™ delivers a rich deep tone, an improved flow path radius, optimum internal flow and sound control, all created with Flowmaster’s Delta Flow® technology. It is the most aggressive, deepest sounding, highest performing four inch case street muffler we’ve ever built!

The way that flowmaster worded it on there website sounded like that was the most aggressive muffler to have. But then again they also said that the super 40 was there most aggressive muffler too.

Right now I've got Flowmasters.....not sure if 2 or 3 chambers with dumps......just the right tone and I don't seem to recall getting fumes inside the passenger compartment. My last LX had one chambers dumped at the rear axle......that was too loud!

Wayne...you said you don't seem to recall getting fumes inside the passenger compartment?...that's the 1st sign of that you've been exposed to fumes...loss of memory! :) lol The 2nd sign (if you were wonderin') is hair begins to grow on your knuckles, & the 3rd and final sign that you've inhaled too many fumes, is you begin lookin' for that hair :)
