kenne bell guys come in!

since im not sure anyone here other then 92'vert has one, i suppose this question is for you. i bought a blower which is supposed to be a 2.1. i dont care either way, but how can i find this out for sure? where would the model number be located. parts of the blower have been sanded, and polished already so im not sure where they are, were. any advise? thanks!

The 1.5L and 2.2L cases are almost indentical with the front of it being flat, however the 2.1L was a later design so the front of the case is different. It's formed around the front gears so there's like a sideways figure eight protuding out. Also the snout is a little beefier on the 2.1L as well.

Troy, when did they start making the 2.2L for the Fox? I know they make the 2.1L BLOWZILLA/FLOWZILLA units. KB doesn't offer the 1.5L anymore.

Did a little more research after we spoke Eric...the 1.5 & 2.2 series were made by Autorotor for Kenne Bell. Not exactly sure when they dropped the 1.5, but they produced the 2.2 until around '02. Then Kenne Bell exited their partnership with Autorotor and started making their own blowers in-house. The 2.1 is the Kenne Bell designed replacement for the Autorotor 2.2. Jim Bell tried to improve the design some, most notably with the bump out "cooling pods" around the front gears. I've heard Kenne Bell's response to the question, is it worth swapping the 2.2 out for the 2.1 was, "not unless your 2.2 is broke!"...so I don't think I'm missing out on much. ;)

PS Also, in the pic of the 2.1 above, the name "Kenne Bell" is upside down...another way to determine if it's the newer 2.1. (all other KB blowers discharge down, but on 5.0s they discharge up...hence they have to flip the blower)

thank you! i do have the 2.1 going by your descriptions with the upside down logo, and the twin protruding gear cover. the weird thing is the front snout support bracket is thin polished aluminum, and does not have a pinch bolt as shown above. it just goes 360* around the snout. it also does not have a bypass which it looks like kenne bell now sells both with bypasses? ill get a pic up, but keep forgetting.
