Alright guys i have decided to re-dye the interior in my 89 coupe all black. The interior was dyed when i bought it, but not very well some spots are starting to flake and so on. I might go with the dye from 50 resto bc i seen how well that stuff worked on the other threads on here and bulldog adhesion promoter. My question is how much dye and adhesion promoter will i need to do all of the plastics?

I think i bought a quart and used the whole can (very little room for error). We used a spray gun to apply it and dont for forget to use the promoter. Clean surface very very well and give plenty of time to setup and dry. I think i let mine set for a week since it does move alittle and i wanted to make sure since it was alot for work.
Please look to our vendors to see if they can supply what you need. They do help support the site. :thumbsup1:

you can look in my build log i dyed all of the panels in mine except the door panels. I used SEM Landau Black, and its really close to the original black interior. as far as prep i cleaned them really well with purple power, sucffed em with a scuff pad, wiped em down with laquor thinner, and sprayed em, the thinner will probably pull out any dye thats currently on the pannels but i think it helps clean them, and as far as adhesion ive had no problems with it not sticking. Its around $14 a can but i think its worth the money. Advance Auto parts can order it but its around $17 a can there

Thats the same stuff i used too just not in a spray can, Either way its good stuff. I think mine was Titanium Grey when i redone it but i was going to as close to original as i could. Just like he said i can not express enough a very clean surface is a must.

the_brick hit the nail on the head on the time part, and make sure it is warm and not humid when you do it. i let mine set about a week before i put em in, and i sprayed one panel when it was humid and it had a little haze to it, just take you time and make sure its clean those are the two key elements imo. hope this info helps

:lol1: my car looks like that now
pick up a bag of cheap solo cups. throw the nuts/bolts them, and label the cup. then you can stack all the cups in order. the smaller you break it down, he easier it is to find it all to put it back together. i like the cups better than sandwich bags.

I bought some adhesive promotor from advance, they have it in stock and it wasn't that exspensive. It worked great for me, might try that.

The promoter is a important part of doing this, what due are you going to use? If you are going to spend the money and time by using SEMs. The cost difference for one or two cans of promoter i would use SEMs promoter. Just saying you will only need one or two cans so its really not gonna cost that much more using SEM promoter if you are using SEM dye. Remember you get what you pay for.
